Visitors find Huanglongxi Ancient Town charming with its well-preserved architecture and the unique atmosphere created by the stream running through 'Food Street.' The evening fire show is a definite highlight. While acknowledged as a tourist destination with commercialized shops, the town retains a memorable charm, especially when exploring beyond the main thoroughfares.
"I loved this ancient town. The charming, man-made stream that winds through the area adds to its peaceful and quaint atmosphere. A short, 15-minute fire show by the river is a highlight—you can watch it from the riverbank or enjoy it while sitting in a boat. While clearly a tourist destination with plenty of food and souvenir shops, it still retains a unique charm that’s both relaxing and memorable."

"Ancient village that has been modernized into tourist attractions. There's a small river that run through town. Along both side of the river there's little shop with the ancient exterior, but modernized interior. Majority of the shop keeper do not speak English. They accepted both cash and QR payments. A very nice place to view and spend the morning"

"Walking along the Main Street, you can see the whole place was really commercialised with many shops selling souvenirs. A bit like Main Street Disneyland (Chinese Ancient town version). I didn’t really like the place until I turned left into “Food Street”with a shallow stream running in the middle and many families wading and playing water. It gave life and a celebratory mood to the whole town. We sat down at a noodle shop to have lunch but the food wasn’t really fantastic. The bowl of noodle has a lot of noodles and only a finger’s length of fat intestine. What a disappointment. The Siew Mai (dumpling) was filled with glutinous rice instead of minced pork which we were more used to ( Cantonese dim sum version)."
