"It’s the best way to see the pond or access the long range traverse so you have really no better option. For the price you pay for the boat tour I find it a bit ridiculous that you aren’t guaranteed a seat. We arrived early as we were told to do but were crammed outside on the front deck shoulder to shoulder with others and we were told our tour wasn’t even sold out. For a 2 hour ride this is not acceptable at this price point. They pack the boats as full as possible because they know people will tolerate it to see the sights. Unless you get a spot on the top deck (which is limited) you will either stand the entire time on the outside deck or sit inside and have no view. Our tour guides were fantastic and it’s a great experience to see the natural beauty but I’d recommend arriving up to an hour early if you don’t want to stand for 2 hours."
