"An interesting small old house with old furniture. We had a tour around the first floor. The second floor is closed to the public. Kind of similar to Emily Carr's house (no wonder). It has a cool semi-painting map of old times, where you can see a lot of familiar buildings and streets."

"Too bad it's never open when I am there. Would be in to take photos for my groups interested in history and heritage"

"Working as a pedicab driver in the area you do get to see the sights. After heard a piano playing in the house mid afternoon and watching tourists run out of the building I had to enquire about what just happened. Well the spirit of the good doctors sister had decided she wanted to play some piano. Quite to the surprise of the tourists who had originally thought it to be a player piano. Of course once they realized that it was playing on it own the screaming began and the people rushed out. Had I not been there and heard the piano playing as people ran out I would have said I was a liar to tell such a tale. If it interests you Victoria has a ghostly walking tour that they do around Halloween...Helmken house is one of the tours..."
