What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Botany Bay's stunning natural beauty, particularly its dramatic chalk cliffs and the fascinating tidepools revealed at low tide. The rugged coastline offers a unique and memorable experience for walkers and nature enthusiasts. Some find the terrain challenging and weather unpredictable, recommending proper gear.
"Wonderful locale of natural beauty on the Pacific Coast of Canada. The smooth lines and creases on this rugged beach bear witness to the power of ever-present waves. Cape Flattery of Washington and the vast Pacific Ocean could be seen in the distance. The beach is very rainy and windy, thus proper clothing is recommended."

"The coast between Botany Bay and Botanical is amazing, filled with rocky shores and tidepools.
I highly recommend coming when the tide is low to check out the tidepools.
I saw urchins, crabs, sea cucumbers, anemones, little fish, little octopi, and squid.
The rocks are a bit dangerous but perfectly fine if you take your time. Make sure you have an emergency plan, falling here could suck, a lot.
This is not a beach you can really swim at, there's a few spots on Botanical that you could get into the water at, but when I visited all the water was thick with (really cool) kelp.
There is several outhouses at the start, and at Botanical but no washroom options on the beach itself.
The trail is clearly marked and a bit steep in areas, those with low mobility might need help getting on and off the beach.
Beach is not suitable for dogs, unless you have good grippy booties for them. Nearly every rock is covered in sharp barnacles."

"A must see in the area, go at low tide and see the tidal pools filled with diverse life!
Short walk from the parking lot, a loop trail that's short. Expect to spend 1-2 hrs here including walking and sightseeing time."

Exploring the Tidepools: A Natural Wonderland
Remember that these are delicate environments. The advice from travelers is to observe gently and avoid disturbing the creatures or their habitats. While the experience is incredibly rewarding, it's important to be mindful of the tide's return and not get cut off. Always check the tide charts before heading out to ensure you have ample time to explore and return safely.
