What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Newmarket GO Station is a functional transit hub with extensive parking and good connections to regional buses. However, visitors often find the station's layout confusing, particularly navigating the large parking lots, and indoor amenities are limited, closing by 4 PM.
"Ugh, the Newmarket GO Station is so big it feels like someone plopped a train in the middle of a giant parking desert. Yeah, sure, there’s lots of parking—like, a whole planet of it—but guess what? No one tells you which way is out! Where’s Davis Drive? Where is dat?! You get off the train and boom, you’re just standing there surrounded by cars like, “Hello? Civilization?” It’s like they wanted to test how lost you can get before you give up. Every GO station does this too—you think you’re getting off near a road, but nope, surprise! You’re starring in your own walking adventure for the next fifteen minutes just to find the front door. Not cool, GO people. Not cool! GRRRRRR"

"There is nowhere to charge a cellphone after 4pm the inside is closed no bathrooms to use worst Go train service in this area"

"This is the only Go station in newmarket. It is close to the Viva Rapid Transit System and YRT (York Regional Transit) as well as the go bus (68 Aurora south/ Barrie Terminal North) as well as the hospital, a convenience store and the main road of newmarket (Davis) the buses you can catch near the terminal connect straight to the newmarket terminal (YRT) as GO transit and YRT have separate buildings for their buses (much unlike many other stations). The building (Tannery Mall) is next door to the tracks and offers services inside (southlake outpatient programs) The go transit inside section of the building is 99% of the time locked from the public so you must stay outside for the train. There is shelters on the platform for the buses and train. Platforms are decently clean and staff do not monitor the facility 24/7. Trains come every hour or so to either Barrie or Toronto"

Navigating the Station and Surrounding Area
Despite the parking lot's vastness, the station is a crucial transit nexus. It's located right next to the Tannery Mall, which houses various services, including Southlake outpatient programs. This proximity to amenities and its role as a hub for Viva Rapid Transit and YRT buses make it a convenient point for onward travel within York Region. Transit Connections and Schedules
Trains on the Barrie line operate approximately hourly, connecting passengers to Barrie in one direction and Toronto in the other.
