What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kingston City Park is a beloved downtown green space, praised for its family-friendly amenities like playgrounds and a splash pad, and its ample picnic areas. However, visitors attending art festivals should be wary of potential scams involving misrepresented art and clothing. Parking can also be a challenge during peak times.
"I went to this park because I was searching for an electrical outlet I could plug into to charge my batteries /laptops and other rechargeable items I've acquired over the past year. I own a tiny home and have no hydro, the woman who ordered my house from the company had it wired to plug into her house. Since she asked me to relocate I've been living without hydro for the past 9 months, with no prospects of ever being able to afford the complete rewiring of my house to live on grid. So I'm forced to drag my devices around the city looking for a place to plug in. This park has a structure, a place to lace up your skates and to use a restroom I'm presuming. There is an outlet that is still functional. Since I've been doin this the city has cut the memorial building and the public library outside outlets off. Which forced me to come to this park. The people in this city are making it harder and harder for me just to survive. I would recommend this park in the day time, It's not very illuminated at night ."

"A beautiful park downtown with nearby parking available. A small playground safe for toddlers, lots of swings, a bigger playground for older children and of course, a big splash pad to cool down for all living things, and of course, a ton of green space to have a picnic, play or just relax with beautiful tall trees. A must for locals as well as for tourists."

"Caution CAUTION CAUTION!! There are lots of painters and artists claiming that they painted an original work but no. You can reverse image search it and it was ripped from the internet and sold from $40 to $500. I'm surprised that whoever organized it didn't check this.
The part which made me angry and I'm still furious about it is, some are getting used clothes from the Thrift store and reselling it in the market as "Aboriginal clothing".
The other scam I noticed was water painting which I have personally bought off the internet is sold in this park on Weekends as "Original Aboriginal painting".
Please stop!!! Please don't buy anything from fake people. Do not buy from resellers who are profiting from Aboriginal Peoples. I'm really sad that Kingston Town didn't notice this. Shame!"

Navigating Parking and Traffic
When planning your visit, especially on weekends or during scheduled events, anticipate higher traffic volumes. Utilizing 'parking kingston ontario' apps can be helpful in locating available spots. If you're staying within Kingston, consider alternative transportation methods like walking, cycling, or public transit to bypass parking hassles altogether.
Art in the Park: A Double-Edged Sword
Travelers strongly advise caution when buying art at these events. It's recommended to research artists beforehand if possible, or at least be skeptical of overly cheap 'original' works. Reverse image searching can help identify if art has been copied from the internet.
