What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
West Edmonton Mall is celebrated as a massive entertainment complex offering a vast array of attractions, shopping, and dining. Visitors praise its cleanliness, friendly staff, and the sheer variety of activities available for all ages, making it a top tourist destination. However, some note issues with insufficient washroom facilities and challenging pedestrian access to the mall.
"West Edmonton Mall is truly an experience, not just a shopping center! It has everything in one place; hundreds of stores, a huge variety of restaurants, and so many fun attractions. I especially loved the indoor waterpark and Galaxyland, perfect for both kids and adults. The atmosphere feels vibrant and welcoming, and the mall is kept clean despite its massive size.
It’s easy to spend an entire day here exploring, shopping, eating, and relaxing. Parking was convenient, and staff at the stores and attractions were friendly and helpful. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, West Edmonton Mall is definitely worth visiting, there’s always something exciting to do!"

"Ok, Fantastic Shopping Mall. An absolute gem to have in the city and especially in winter time for local residents to explore, have employment, in away from the cold. Bad news, WEM, this mall, still has absolutely ugly, horrible, unsafe pedestrian and bicycle access. Having made the trek on foot and by bicycle to this mall since it was just Phase 1 to now. Nothing for pedestrian access overall has improved. There is a nice newly refurbished pedestrian bridge between the mall and the hospital spanning the ugliest of highway streets. It's a new pedestrian bridge that still connects to ugly outdated, poor unsafe pedestrian walkways and crossings. And on the mall side it leads to an almost abandoned portion of phase 1 since the Bay closure. The city of Edmonton has an absolute gem of River Valley just a few kilometers away from the Mall. Visitors wouldn't stand a chance to enjoy a walk or bike from the Mall to see it. Which means local residents suffer the same fate. Please make sure to finally work with the city to improve and modernize pedestrian and bicycle access to the Mall from all compass directions. Yes, once largest parking lot in the world accommodates many, still very sad it is an ugly walk from next door to your WEM entrance doors."

"This mall has everything… and somehow nothing at the same time!
It’s huge, with a wide variety of stores to explore. There are two food courts plus another large dining area with major restaurant chains. You’ll also find some big-name designer stores for those looking to splurge.
For fun, there’s an ice rink, a mini golf course, and so much more to keep the kids entertained.
The only downside? There aren’t enough washroom facilities on either level, and they could definitely use more maps to help visitors navigate. If you’re new here, expect to wander a bit before finding what you need.
Overall, it’s a beautiful, extremely clean mall—and be prepared, because it’s very busy from Sunday morning straight through to closing time."
