What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Yarra Glen Racecourse Market for its high-quality handmade crafts and unique artisanal products, making it a standout in Victoria. However, long queues for food and coffee, along with a parking fee, are common drawbacks. The market is generally accessible and dog-friendly, offering a pleasant experience for families and pet owners.
"Food and drink queue's such as coffee are very slow. Can stand aaiting for ovef 30 minures in some queues. Not a lot of healthy food choices on offer. Some queues are so long that the seller tends to run out by the time you get served. There's a lot of the same products on sale. Such as toiletry bags, dilly bags, earrings, key rings, other jewellery. But there are some beautiful pieces of art work of Australian fauna and flora by various artists. Drawings, paintings and sculptures. Some very talented people.
There is a $5.00 entry fee, but no idea where this money goes. There aren't any easy access points from the carpark for people with disabilities. You have to navigate rough terrain no matter which entrance you take from the carparks. There isn't a lot of places to sit at either, seating is centralised and you have to keep asking people if the have any spare seats or tables."

"Great monthly market. There are plenty of stalls to stroll through. A good food selection, although some food stalls run out of food quickly. $5 car parking, then free entry into the market. There are plenty of coffee options."

"Great monthly market with a good variety of vendors. We always pop by to stock up on our favorite cannolis and coffee beans."

The Yarra Glen Racecourse Market Experience
While the market is celebrated for its high-quality, locally made items and genuine artisans, some practical aspects have been noted by visitors. Queues for food and coffee can be lengthy, and some popular food items may sell out. Parking has a fee, though free entry is a plus. Despite these minor points, the market is consistently praised for its atmosphere and the talent of its vendors.
For those looking for a unique shopping experience and a taste of local produce, the Yarra Glen Racecourse Market is a must-visit. It offers a chance to support small businesses and discover treasures you won't find elsewhere. Remember to check their social media for any special dates or twilight market events.
Navigating Food & Drink Queues
To mitigate this, consider arriving early in the day, as queues tend to be shorter before the market reaches its peak. Alternatively, visiting later in the afternoon, closer to closing time, might offer a more relaxed experience with potentially shorter waits. Some attendees suggest bringing your own snacks and drinks to enjoy while browsing, reducing reliance on the market's food vendors.
Despite the queue challenges, the quality and variety of food offerings are generally well-received, with mentions of delicious cannolis, gourmet coffee beans, and fresh lemonade. If you're set on trying a specific food item, it's best to head there first upon arrival.
Discovering Unique Artisanal Wares
Many stallholders are local to Victoria, and their dedication to their craft is evident. You'll find unique pieces that tell a story and reflect the creativity of the makers. This focus on artisanal quality makes the market a standout destination for finding special gifts or personal treasures.
When exploring, take your time to chat with the vendors. They are often happy to share insights into their creative process and the inspiration behind their work, adding an extra layer of appreciation to your purchases.
