What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Friday Flat offers a generally efficient process for ski gear hire, especially with online pre-booking, and is well-suited for beginners. However, visitors should be prepared for the significantly high costs associated with gear rental and lift tickets, and be aware that staff experiences can be inconsistent, ranging from excellent to notably rude.
"The process of collecting our snow gear was straightforward even on a Saturday morning during school holidays thanks to helpful and friendly staff and online pre-booking.
First step was the boots. It’s faster if you know your weight and height.
Second step was the skis and sticks. Again if you booked online then you would have provided your level which helps with adjusting the attachments.
We had our own helmets so the process of collecting boots and skis took less than 10 minutes.
Locker rental costs $20 per day. You pay $30 to collect a key then get $10 back when the key is returned. Payment by card. I could put a pair of snowboots and 2 backpacks in one locker.
Ski return was a little bit more hectic around 3pm because of the crowds but it was still relatively quick."

"Good items, however not sure if someone is just having a bad day but was extremely surprised at the rudeness by one staff member. This is our first time in thredbo and the unfriendliness of this one staff member has made us leave thredbo to go to perisher instead where the people who work there are more welcoming."

"Technically excellent and efficient process. Consistent. Great service, patience & genuine warmth and care. Shout to Melissa and Jenny and Alysha."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Be prepared for the costs, as ski hire and lift tickets can add up quickly for a family. Consider packing snacks and drinks to minimize on-site purchases. While the gear collection process is generally efficient, keep an eye on the clock, especially if you have young children who might get restless.
💰 Budget Travelers
Bringing your own snacks and drinks from outside the resort can also help reduce daily expenses. If possible, look for accommodation options that are slightly further from the immediate slopes, as these can sometimes be more affordable.
👫 Couples
While the prices are high, consider it an investment in a shared activity. The locker rental can be useful for storing personal items, keeping your day on the slopes uncluttered.

Beyond gear hire, lift tickets themselves represent a substantial expense. It's always advisable to research current pricing and look for any potential package deals or early bird discounts that might be available. Planning your budget in advance is key to enjoying your time at Friday Flat without financial strain.
Staff Interactions and Service
One notable account describes extreme rudeness from a staff member, which was so off-putting that it led the visitors to choose a different resort. This suggests that while consistent high-quality service is a goal, individual experiences can vary significantly.
It's worth noting that the overall efficiency of processes like gear collection is often attributed to helpful and friendly staff. However, potential visitors should be aware that while many staff members are excellent, isolated incidents of unfriendliness can occur.
