What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Cotter Bend Reserve for its beautiful, serene natural setting and family-friendly shallow river access, perfect for picnics and BBQs. While many enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and convenience for a quick nature escape, some mention the presence of flies as a minor drawback.
"A beautiful part of the world! I came for a picnic but will definitely come back to camp. Me and the little one had fun splashing in the water and had it been warmer we both probably would have enjoyed a swim!"
Bridie Bergin
"A very beautiful location, just a short drive from Canberra. Plenty of parking, lots of places to sit and have a picnic and best of all public toilets. There aren't any bins, so bring a rubbish bag if needed. We visited mid week (mid-morning) during school holidays, and there was hardly anyone there. The sandy bank and shallow section of the bend was perfect for small children. There is also the trail to the Cotter Dam, which was a hit as well. Definitely recommend this location for families/anyone looking to get back to nature and have a swim without driving too far."
Kalypso Frost
"Very serene, water source of fun for Canberra. Amenities were available. We picnicked there and the regular citizens(magpie/ raven) wanted a piece of our pizza"
