What's a tourist trap that's actually worth visiting despite the crowds?
The Colosseum in Rome. To actually stand in that space and transport yourself back 2000 years was pretty awesome, and I didnβt mind the crowds since back then it would have been packed with people anyways.

My first time in Rome, and I had always heard the Colosseum looks its best early in the morning. I took this a little before 6 today, and the plaza was completely empty. I was not disappointed.
Everything looks best in the early morning. It's one of the toughest things to do while travelling, but to get up every day before sunrise and to get to the best photo spots for the early morning Golden Hour before they fill up with tourists is almost always worthwhile.
