What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the stunning natural beauty, particularly the spectacular sunsets and clear night skies. The remoteness offers a peaceful escape, and mud crabbing is a highlight for many. However, the challenging 4WD access, prevalence of biting insects, and lack of safe swimming areas are significant drawbacks for some.
"We found the road in ok for 4WD, the area is beautiful. Crabs are great, fish are average, have to work hard. Sand flies when no breeze. Worth the drive great holiday. Toilets and bore water."

"After the 4WD into this isolated spot it was disappointing that there were no safe swimming areas for the children. The camping spots were adequate sized but quite rocky so not easily able to pitch or peg down a tent. Small dinghy or jetski only would be towed down this trail. Only place to get mud crabs as per signs. No tracks suitable for children of elderly. Treacherous shoreline only accessible by LARC! Trees and roots sticking up out of the sand everywhere. Steep rocky track available for the young and nimble... Which salt wasn't me. There was a toilet nearby... Bring something to wash and sanitise hands afterward though. Probably wouldn't go again.. Sadly."

"Good little camp ground.
Drive in is easy enough in probably any 4wd ever made.
Probably 2wd vehicles too. LET YOUR TYRES DOWN or end up with no teeth.
Mosquitoes and midges are annoying, spray and then spray again.
But who cares when the views are like this?
The stars at night are fantastic.
Amazing sunset and sunrise."

Navigating the Terrain
Towing anything larger than a small dinghy or jet ski is generally not recommended due to the track's limitations. The shoreline itself can be treacherous, with trees and roots exposed, making it accessible only by boat or for the very agile. This remoteness is part of its charm, but it means self-sufficiency is key. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition and you have appropriate recovery gear if venturing off the main track.
Camping and Wildlife Encounters
Wildlife opportunities include mud crabbing, which is a popular activity, with signs often indicating good spots. Fishing is also an option, though some reviewers note it can be challenging and requires effort. Beyond the active pursuits, the park offers incredible natural beauty. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular, painting the sky with vibrant colors, and the lack of light pollution makes for fantastic stargazing at night. There's a basic toilet facility, but bringing hand sanitizer is recommended.
