What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Flamingo Beach is a highly sought-after experience in Aruba, praised for its unique flamingo encounters and the exclusive feel of Renaissance Island. Visitors love the tranquility, the well-maintained facilities, and the convenience for hotel guests. However, the high cost of day passes and limited availability can be a significant drawback for non-guests.
"Flamingo Beach – A Must-Do Aruba Experience!
If you’re staying at the Renaissance Marriott in Aruba, this is an absolute highlight. The hotel runs a quick 7-minute boat ride that takes you to their private island, and from the moment you step off, it feels like paradise.
The island has everything you could want: a bar, a restaurant, a gift shop, and of course—the famous flamingos that make it so unique. There’s a family-friendly beach on one side and a tranquil adults-only area on the other, each with its own bar. The staff is great about lending out rafts, masks, and snorkels, so you can float or explore in the calm, safe waters.
For those looking to unwind, couples can even book massages in a beautiful, secluded pergola by the water. The food and drinks are reasonably priced considering it’s a private island, and because it’s exclusive to guests, it never feels overcrowded. Best of all, there are no cars anywhere—just pure relaxation and natural beauty.
Between the flamingos, the turquoise water, and the overall experience, Flamingo Beach is worth every minute. A true Aruba gem!"

"I had the best day at Flamingo Island. The flamingos are beautiful and the massage in the over water bungalow was amazing. Honestly one of the best massages in the most idyllic setting. The food is very good and the iguanas were cute too.
Will definitely be back next year!"

"$125 each person to get the ride from the pier to the island. The island is beautiful and very well maintained and the service is excellent: food and drinks available all the day. The island is not totally natural … is it partially artificially created especially the 2 lagoon. You have e iguanas and flamingos walking around you on the beach. Last boat leaves at 6:30pm … plenty of time to enjoy a full beach day. Other activities available on the island: beach volley, massages, diving, canoe etc."

Understanding Access to Renaissance Island
For those not staying at the resort, obtaining a day pass is the alternative. These passes are limited in number and are sold online through the Renaissance Aruba Resort website. It's crucial to book these passes well in advance, as they often sell out weeks ahead of time, particularly during peak tourist seasons. The cost for a day pass can be substantial, typically ranging from $125 to $150 USD per person.
Another popular strategy for non-guests is to book a spa package at the island's Spa Cove. These packages often include day pass access to the island, along with a massage and sometimes lunch or a drink. This can be a more cost-effective way to experience the island's exclusivity while also indulging in a relaxing spa treatment.
The Flamingo Experience
It's important to remember that these are wild animals, and while they are accustomed to people, it's essential to be respectful. Avoid sudden movements or loud noises that might startle them. The resort sometimes offers opportunities to feed the flamingos, which can be a magical experience, but always follow the guidelines provided by the staff to ensure the birds' well-being.
While Flamingo Beach is the designated area for these encounters, flamingos can often be spotted on Iguana Beach as well, which is the family-friendly side of the island. This means you might have multiple opportunities to see these beautiful creatures during your visit.
Beyond the Flamingos: Island Amenities and Activities
For refreshments, there are bars and restaurants serving a range of food and drinks. While not included in the standard day pass, the prices are generally considered reasonable for a private island experience. The calm, turquoise waters are perfect for swimming, and the resort provides complimentary rafts, masks, and snorkels for guests to explore the underwater world.
Additional activities available include beach volleyball and the highly sought-after massages offered in secluded overwater pergolas. These massages provide a truly idyllic setting for unwinding. The last boat departs the island in the early evening, giving you ample time to enjoy a full day of sun, sea, and relaxation.
