Reviews Summary
De Palm Island is widely praised for its all-inclusive value, offering a fun-filled day with activities like snorkeling, water slides, and unique flamingo encounters. Visitors appreciate the convenience of unlimited food and drinks, and the Sea Trek experience is a standout for many. However, some note that seating can be limited without upgrades, and bird presence in shaded areas can be a minor drawback. The food quality is generally considered standard for all-inclusive resorts.
"Very fun day at De Palm Island. Upgraded to premium seating so we could sit in the area with the Flamingos. It was a great experience. You can't feed or them. However they do get up close and personal."

"Worth the day trip. We enjoyed our day on the island. We just did regular, not the secluded/adult only area. That area has a fence around it and you can "be" with the flamingos, but you can also take pictures from the fence with the flamingos. The snorkeling was good, we saw plenty of beautiful fish. Lunch was really good, buffet style but you can have as much as you want; same for drinks (Liquor/Sodas/Juices). My hubby went down the water slides and enjoyed them all. We did the Salsa lesson as well and that was fun. The negatives are few: if you don't get there early, you wont get a hut. There is shade under the trees BUT the birds are there too, enough said. Servers don't come around, so you have to get your own drinks. Luckily we went on a day with no cruises, because it would've been over crowded I'm sure. Would've been nice if ice cream or snow cones would be included but you can pay for them (Cash Only)"

"A picturesque day chilling with flamingos, clouds and sun. Don't forget you can enjoy snorkeling, snuba, scuba or just floating in the ocean. And when you get hungry there's an all you can eat buffet and grill station. Also stay hydrated with unlimited drinks for everyone age."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Practical tips for families include arriving early to secure shaded seating, which is crucial for keeping little ones comfortable. While many activities are included, be aware that some extras like ice cream might cost extra and are cash only. The short ferry ride is usually an exciting part of the adventure for kids, and the island's contained environment makes it easier to keep an eye on them.
💰 Budget Travelers
To maximize value, focus on enjoying the included activities. Prioritize snorkeling, swimming, and the water slides. If you're on a tight budget, skip optional add-ons like Sea Trek unless it's a must-do experience for you. Consider visiting on a weekday to potentially avoid higher weekend rates or crowds, and always compare package deals if available. Remember that some smaller purchases, like ice cream, are cash-only, so have some local currency on hand.

The All-Inclusive Experience
Beyond food and drinks, the all-inclusive package usually includes access to a range of activities. This commonly features snorkeling gear, allowing you to explore the underwater world, and exhilarating rides on the banana boat. The island also boasts water slides for those seeking a bit more adrenaline. The convenience of having most of your expenses covered upfront makes it an attractive option for families and groups looking to relax and enjoy a full day of entertainment.
However, it's important to note that not all activities are always included. Special experiences like Sea Trek, an underwater walking tour, often come with an additional fee. Additionally, while shade is available under trees, some visitors mention issues with birds in those areas, and premium seating or private palapas might require an upgrade. Understanding what's included versus what's extra will help manage expectations and ensure you get the most out of your day.
Interacting with De Palm Island's Wildlife
Beyond the flamingos, the waters surrounding De Palm Island are teeming with marine life, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling. The inclusion of snorkeling gear in the all-inclusive package means you can easily explore the vibrant coral and diverse fish species that inhabit the area. For those who prefer a more guided underwater experience or are not confident swimmers, activities like Sea Trek offer a chance to walk on the seabed and observe marine life up close, albeit with an additional cost.
While the focus is often on the flamingos and snorkeling, the island's environment supports a variety of birdlife. Visitors should be mindful of this, especially when choosing seating areas, as some shaded spots under trees might be frequented by birds. Respecting the natural habitat and wildlife is key to enjoying the island's unique offerings responsibly.
Navigating De Palm Island: Transport & Logistics
Upon arrival at the island, securing a good spot is often a priority for visitors. Shaded huts and comfortable seating can fill up quickly, especially on busier days. Arriving earlier in the day is highly recommended to ensure you get a desirable location. While there are shaded areas under trees, some guests have noted that these spots can be shared with local birdlife. For those seeking a more exclusive experience, premium seating options or private palapas may be available for an extra charge.
De Palm Island operates daily from approximately 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a full day of activities and relaxation. It's advisable to check the most current operating hours before your visit.
