Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Serranía de Hornocal as an absolutely breathtaking and unique natural wonder, often comparing its grandeur to the Grand Canyon. The vibrant colors and immense scale leave a lasting impression. Some travelers found the drive challenging due to altitude and road conditions, and noted the entrance fee, but overwhelmingly felt the experience was worth it. InstagramReddit

"Really nice. You can drive by yourself to the view point whiteout any problem. Entrance at the top is 1.000 pesos per person!"

Kurt Spelier

"To start with… the tourist info place will tell you a guide or 4x4 is needed so they can obviously make some money - and I don’t blame them at all but it is a very well maintained gravel road. Finding it on GPS was a bit tricky but not too difficult. From town it took us about 45 minutes or so to get to the mountain. We arrived just before sunset which is not supposed to be the most ideal time to go for the colors to pop but it’s the time we had… and the colors were incredible so I imagine during peak hours they must be indescribable! However the one huge bonus? We had to pay nothing to get in AND we had the entire place to ourselves - NOBODY else was there other than a couple people for 10 minutes until they left. The hike down was fantastic and this place and the Grand Canyon are the only 2 places I stared at for an hour and couldn’t believe it was real! If you are within a day drive it is 100% worth going to see. There’s are also some good restaurants and places to stay in town. Great stop and one of the most beautiful places you will ever lay eyes on!"

Michael “Wolfy” Howes

"Well worth the drive. Dont underestimate the altitude and the climate - a little rain in town might mean snow or hail at the top: bring layers! Take your time and stay at the car park if you’re already feeling the altitude there, the climb back up the hill is tough"
