What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the spectacular natural beauty of the canyon, the historic Katiu Bridge, and the therapeutic thermal pools. Many highlight the unique blend of relaxation and adventure, calling it a must-visit gem. However, some mention ongoing construction and potential parking issues, advising early visits to avoid crowds and ensure a smoother experience.
"The canyon is spectacular. There was quite a bit of workers building parkings spaces, river banks and new pools for visitors. We walked the riverbed in the canyon itself. There are at least three warm pools along the way. First ones rights next to the bridge. There was some trash, but not after the third pool though. They tried to scam us in the parking lot-be aware. Some friendly dog walked with us."

"The thermal baths were a very pleasant experience. The water is nicely hot and comfortable, and when you walk through the canyon area there are another 2–3 pools to enjoy. There isn’t much else beyond that, but it’s a beautiful place to look around and take a relaxing walk."

"Natural hot springs, beautiful stone bridge and my most favourite place in all Albania, hands down!
Sitting in the hot water, enjoying a beer and watching the sunset over the distant valleys will stay one of the most memorable traveling moments in my life.
Places like these are rare and unfortunately, I'm afraid it won't stay like this for a very long time. In April 2025, the infrastructure was being heavily upgraded for tourists and there were already construction renovations of the adjacent roads, the large parking lot and few buildings next to it. This meant you had to park in the back and walk additional 800+ metres to the bridge and the hot water, and so I barely met anyone here later in the evening. The situation will surely be completely different during summer and I bet the place will be packed with people.
But before the hordes of people discover this place and the Albanians make you pay for it - just enjoy the serenity, pure nature and the beauty of this little gem. It's stunning."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
Exploring the Lengarica Canyon
For those seeking a more immersive experience, walking along the riverbed is possible, but it requires appropriate footwear like water shoes. The canyon is home to several natural thermal pools, with the last one being particularly secluded and offering the warmest waters. This intimate setting provides a unique opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy a truly therapeutic soak away from the main crowds.
Remember to be respectful of the environment. Stick to designated paths where they exist, and always pack out what you pack in. The canyon is a fragile ecosystem, and preserving its natural state ensures that future visitors can also experience its breathtaking beauty.
The Therapeutic Properties of Bënja's Waters
Visitors often describe the water as being comfortably hot, providing a soothing and relaxing sensation. The different pools offer varying temperatures, with the more secluded pools upstream typically being the hottest. This allows individuals to choose a pool that best suits their comfort level and desired therapeutic effect. Soaking in these mineral-rich waters is not just about relaxation; it's an ancient practice believed to promote overall well-being and rejuvenation.
While the waters are natural and free, it's important to approach the experience with respect. Avoid using soaps or shampoos directly in the natural pools, as this can disrupt the delicate ecosystem. Instead, enjoy the pure, unadulterated benefits of the thermal waters as nature intended.
Navigating Infrastructure Development
Travelers are advised to be aware of these changes. While the development promises better amenities, it also means the area might become more crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. Some visitors have noted that arriving early or visiting during the shoulder seasons can offer a more tranquil experience before the full impact of the upgrades is realized.
Despite the construction, the natural beauty and therapeutic qualities of the site remain. The key is to manage expectations regarding the current state of development and to plan your visit accordingly. Checking recent local updates or traveler forums before your trip can provide the most current information on access and facilities.
