Hi Tik Tok friends! Today I ate at Bánh Xèo 46A one of the most famous spots in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) for bánh xèo, the crispy Vietnamese rice flour crepe. Its fluffy delicious egg crepe filled with bean sprouts pork, shrimp and you roll in fresh greens with rice paper and dip into sauce! Reviews Summary

This well-loved Vietnamese eatery is celebrated for its authentic and crispy Banh Xeo, often described as generously portioned and flavorful. While many praise the quality and value, some find it a bit oily or overpriced compared to other local options. The friendly service and lively atmosphere add to the dining experience, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

"I’m legit impressed with this place. The food is straight-up amazing. The bánh xèo (crepe) is layered with green beans and coated with coconut milk. So freaking good. I also got the bánh canh, the soup was just perfect. Came here on a weekend, had to wait in line for a bit since it was super packed. But the way they handle the queue, take orders, and serve food is super smooth, even though it looks like total chaos.

Pro tip: they take reservations on weekdays but not weekends, so plan ahead and book if you can."

Eddie Lam

"A great little spot to come and experience an authentic meal. It’s definitely on the unrefined style compared to other top restaurants but it’s a good experience overall. They’re known for their “fried food with lettuce wrap style”. The place is known for their huge pancakes, pretty overrated in my opinion. The soft shell crab and steamed fish was great, good mixed salad. Plenty to enjoy on the menu. I’d probably not come back as there are much better places for this type of cuisine but I’d recommend coming a least once! The staff were great and gave good recommendations."

Lift_Run_Eat_

"Idk why the ratings are so low - this place is seriously good! Hands down the best pancake I’ve had: thin, crispy, and generously filled.

Just a couple of things to note: they only accept cash, so make sure you bring some. Also, the AC area isn’t open during the morning, so be prepared for that if you’re visiting early.

Menu is based on Aug 2025 prices. 180k for large prawns."

Restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City

A no-frills, family-run institution, Banh Xeo 46A is the go-to place for one of southern Vietnam's most cherished culinary creations: banh xeo (literally, "sizzling crepe")—a crispy pancake made with rice flour, coconut milk, and a smidgen of turmeric, and filled with bean sprouts, onion, shrimp, and pork. Break off a piece and wrap it up in a giant mustard leaf along with a handful of herbs and greens, and dunk it in a fish sauce-based dip laced with chilies. The menu has been expanded to include other Vietnamese dishes but the banh xeo is still the star.

A favourite with Anthony Bourdain, this sweet little spot in District 1 specialises (albeit not exclusively) in bánh xèo – ‘sizzling pancakes’ with turmeric, cooked in skillets and filled with the likes of pork, shrimp, mung beans and vegetables, according to taste. Be careful not to over-order – the regular-size crêpes can be big enough for two. 46A Dinh Cong Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

• Synopsis & Review: After a hiatus of nearly four years without shooting a show in Vietnam, this episode, perhaps because of his long absence, is Bourdain’s most successful, warm, and heartfelt love letter to the country. It’s also the most personal of all Bourdain’s Vietnam shows and my favourite. The film opens with a Vietnamese folktale around a fire about the nature of ‘home’ and ‘change’, both of which are central themes of the episode.
