Reviews Summary
Phở Gà Nguyệt is celebrated for its authentic and delicious chicken pho, with many praising the flavorful broth and tender chicken, especially the thigh meat. While some note the basic service and occasional texture inconsistencies, the affordable prices and Bib Gourmand recognition make it a highly recommended street food experience. It's a bustling local spot offering a taste of genuine Hanoi street food culture.
"Serves a pretty good chicken pho, and definitely a must-try for people who want to eat pho but can't eat beef.
We tried both the dry and soup versions. Soup pho is better in my opinion. Their highlight is a light but still robust chicken soup profile, which is tasty enough just with a zest of lime. Not necessary to spoil the flavour with additional chilli whatsoever. The dry version is also doable, with it being lightly mixed with soy sauce.
Their chicken has a nice texture, though slightly tough to chew off, but cooked just nice.
It's somewhere that I'll definitely go back again for the experience of sitting on the roadside and having one good pho."

"Very good bowl of Pho Ga. The little pork balls you can get as an addition were great, highly recommend. The fried dough sticks were a little on the hard side (even after dunking). I prefer it when they’re fresh so you can do a couple of dips instead of leaving it in the bowl for a few mins. I went for the mixed (breast and thigh). The breast was far too dry (even for breast) it was like it wasn’t freshly chopped. Next time I’d stick with something that doesn’t spoil as quickly. Overall is was good, doesn’t make it into my top 5 Hanoi Pho Ga."

"I found this local Vietnamese pho shop highly recommended on social media. Located in the heart of Hanoi, I personally believe this restaurant is underrated.
The price is incredibly affordable, a refreshing change from some of the more famous, overpriced establishments. It feels like a genuinely honest business.
The chicken pho here is truly exceptional and unforgettable. The chicken is cooked to perfection tender and juicy, with delightfully smooth and bouncy skin that bursts with flavor in every bite. It's a truly enjoyable culinary experience.
The staff were also incredibly welcoming and provided excellent service. I only had two days in Hanoi, but if I had more time, I would have definitely returned. The chicken pho is a must try."

Where To Find The Best Pho Ga (Chicken Pho) In Hanoi
Light, herbaceous, restorative chicken pho in Hanoi is its own thing, a world away from the beef version’s assertive savouriness and rich mouthfeel. In fact, as a rule, if a shophouse or stall serves both chicken and beef pho, it’s reasonable to assume that neither is the greatest rendition, the two disciplines not interchangeable by any means. Just outside of the Old Quarter proper, on Phu Doan, a stretch of road defined by garages and motorbike repairs, you’ll find one of Hanoi’s best versions of chicken pho at Pho Ga Nguyet.
The 7 best restaurants in Hanoi, Vietnam
From a visual point of view, nothing stands out about Pho Ga Nguyet: it’s nestled within a cramped terrace house on a cluttered street in the Old Quarter. Head chef Ms Nguyet, a former market trader, doesn’t come from a long line of food connoisseurs like other chefs in the neighbourhood. But she has always made a fabulous pho ga (chicken flat noodle soup, Vietnam’s national dish) and opened a pho shop in 2009.

Phở gà (chicken pho) is lighter than beef pho, and it is a natural remedy for a common cold. Similar to beef pho, it is usually served with chopped spring onions, coriander, onion slices and also quẩy, deep-fried flour-based snacks that are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Locals tend to dip them into their soup to let them absorb the tasty broth.
