Pacific Rim meets Caribbean cooking in the cozy dining room of this open-air eatery, with bamboo furnishings and local flora providing a tropical backdrop. Thai crab cakes, Cuban mojo pork, and sesame-encrusted Szechuan tuna are excellent choices. If you feel in the mood to share, order finger-food-style pupu platters with choices like duck potstickers, coconut rice balls, and spicy peanut chicken skewers.

Rhumb Lines and its Caribbean-meets-Pacific Rim cuisine has been a tucked-away local favorite in Cruz Bay for years and years. Look for shrimp and mahi-mahi infused with flavors like tempura, teriyaki, and coconut curry.

We ended most beach days sipping Presidente beers and Margaritas as we watched the ferry from St. Thomas come and go from the porch at Spyglass restaurant; dinners – local mahi at Fish Trap, Asian-inflected dishes with a postcard-worthy at Asolare and Thai at Rhumb Lines – were fresh, delicious and casual. We weren’t sure about getting carry out ribs from Candi’s BBQ and Grill – the not-mobile food truck is located next to a gas station near the car ferry – until we spotted Candi in the back chopping cabbage for cole slaw. “I make everything here, including the come-back sauce for the ribs,” she said.

A great bar and restaurant option when choosing where to eat in St. John is Rhumb Lines. You can begin with summer rolls, fusion chicken cool cups, or shrimp & corn fritters or choose from some delectable soups and salads such as fresh mango gazpacho, trans-Pacific ceviche, or pistachio-crusted goat cheese. The unique entrees are really a treat, with menu items such as grilled banana Mahi-Mahi, Cuban mojo pork, spicy blackened diver scallops, plum glazed chicken, or vegetarian nirvana.

There are plenty of great eateries throughout St. John, including Rhumb Lines in Coral Bay, with a great South Pacific-inspired menu and vibe. The Pizzabar in Paradise is a fantastic place to grab a slice, but be sure to get there early or call ahead, because this popular spot fills up quickly. Morgan’s Mango is an elegant restaurant with a distinctly tropical feel with ultra-fresh seafood.

For those of you who have eaten at Rhumb Lines in Cruz Bay know how good it was and will be excited to know that they are now in Coral Bay. The owners of Indigo Grill and Rhumb Lines decided to consolidate their efforts and turn Indigo(the old Donkey Diner, formerly Sputnik) into Rhumb Lines. Delicious Asian inspired dishes are offered as pu pu portions or full dishes.

Indigo – I’d have to say that this was probably my favorite meal on St. Thomas. My husband ordered some type of scallops and crab appetizer, which he said was de-lish!. For dinner, I ordered the pear and pecan salad w/ gorgonzola and mango vinaigrette dressing and a bowl of potato cheese soup… very good.

Offering a mix of Caribbean and South Pacific cuisine, Rhumb Lines provides a unique dining experience in a tropical garden setting. Known for its diverse menu, Aqua Bistro is particularly famous for its Ponzu Tuna on Fridays. The restaurant offers a variety of bar fare and dinner entrees.

Don’t expect views at this Asian-Caribbean spot, set in an alfresco courtyard in a shopping complex. They make up for it with twinkling lights, swaying palm trees, and a reliably good Asian fusion menu. Do not resist the shrimp and corn fritters, a match made in culinary heaven.…

Close to Skinny Legs is Rhumb Lines Restaurant, which is best described as Caribbean/Asian fusion. They have a great happy hour, but for dinner I’d recommend reservations. They have a solid menu with high quality ingredients and Tyler pours some fanatic libations.

Rhumb Lines is hidden behind Meada’s Plaza after you walk through the mini mart there awaits a tropical treat, with bamboo, wooden benches, overhead trellis, large paper lights, pillows, and much more.

We wish we had gone here earlier in our trip since it was close to our villa. The service was excellent, and the food was good as well. We started with great cocktails (they make them strong).

One of my favorite places to dine on the island is Rhumb Lines Restaurant in Coral Bay. The unusual name refers to the path taken by a ship that maintains a constant compass setting.

One minute walk from the ferry dock in Cruz Bay, a favorite restaurant for many of my wedding groups that want a traditional sit down dinner. The food is fantastic.
