After picnic-classic Deli Grotto closed a few years ago, hikers and beachgoers wondered where they’d get their sandwich fix. Luckily, North Shore Deli reopened in its charming-plus-convenient place, tucked away in a stone-walled space in the atmospheric Mongoose Junction shopping complex.Why go?. This is the spot to grab that Pirate Piggy (roast pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, and housemade mustard on a sub roll) you’ll be glad for on the beach.Price range?

At this air-conditioned (but no-frills) sandwich shop you place your order at the counter and wait for it to be delivered to your table or for takeout. The classic Reuben is a favorite, but other sandwiches, like the turkey pesto and vegan Greek flatbread pita with hummus and veggies, also get rave reviews. For breakfast, try the brown sugar oatmeal or turkey hash with toast and eggs.

North Shore Deli is maybe not as obvious as their super green salads and smoothies hide behind incredible baked goods and house smoked pork. But, I always manage to get into some healthy foods when I can abstain from the above and the buffalo chicken dip 🙂 The super green salad with chicken is packed with local greens, hearts of palm, and sunflower seeds. Yes, there is also bleu cheese and candied walnuts, which you could totally put a hold on, but overall this menu items is one of my go to’s for a power packed lunch.

You will find residential villas and locals are very friendly. The usual common-sense precautions are advised, such as locking your doors, not displaying large amounts of cash, jewelry, or cameras (especially at Waterlemon Cay on the North Side of the island) Never use your car as a safe place for your wallet while at the beach. Otherwise, your stay on St. John should be worry-free.

St. John is blessed with picturesque beaches sprinkled with powder-white sands and turquoise-blue waters. Part of the charm of many of these beaches is the absence of commercialization, which means a lack of dining facilities. But thanks to places like North Shore Deli, you don’t have to spend your day hangry on the beach or worry about prepping lunches in the morning.

They have a grab and go section with some really great dips and snack foods and their sandwiches are large enough to share and really really good.

In Cruz Bay at Mongoose Junction with lots of shopping and parking, good breakfast and sandwiches with a great grab and go deli selection and snacks. They smoke their own meats and make their own pastries. We love the reuben, pirate piggy, and the superfoods salad.

Solomon Bay, Caneel, Hawksnest, Trunk, Cinnamon, Maho and Francis bays along the north shore of St. John are some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. Be wary of Johnson’s Reef, which is surrounded by yellow buoys and is clearly marked on the charts.

I suggested to someone else today going to North Shore Deli in Mongoose Junction (a short walk from the Cruz Bay Ferry Dock). You could stop here on your way to the beach or on the way back. They open for breakfast before you'd arrive on St. John.

One of our favorite lunch options in St. John is NorthShore Deli. More days than not, we’ll swing by and pick up items to enjoy a picnic lunch on our favorite beach. My go-to sandwich is the Smoked Turkey & Bacon.

North Shore Deli serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week. It is fully air-conditioned with a handful of tables. You can enjoy the cool air while waiting for a to-go order or dine in.

I am pleased to see that North Shore Deli still has the same appeal as the former Deli Grotto. Stop in for lunch or a snack on your way back from the beach. The dessert bars are amazing.

We love their iced coffees and they make an amazing breakfast sandwich!. Sit outside and enjoy the beautiful architecture and planting in Mongoose Junction, or enjoy the cold A/C inside.

We love Uncle Joe's BBQ and Skinny Legs and the Deli in Mongoose Junction. Our last experience at Lime Inn was not very good. The Fish Trap is good but pricey for what you get.

The North Shore Beaches (like Trunk Bay) in St. John USVI are ranked among the best in the WORLD!. If you are a beach bum, a North Shore vacation rental will be your happy place.

Once again, we are set with our chairs, cooler and sunscreen from our hotel along with a delicious sandwich from the North Shore Deli.
