What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Canyon Eatery offers a family-friendly, food-hall style dining experience with a retro diner ambiance in a convenient national park location. While the customizable wok station and fresh ingredients are praised, some visitors find the food quality inconsistent and the prices high, especially during dinner hours. It's a solid option for refueling, but managing expectations is key, particularly if seeking gourmet cuisine.
"If you are staying at the Canyon Lodge, this is your pretty much your only option for food. Its open late enough that you can stay out in the park through most of the early evening to see the animals and sunset and still have time to eat. Its got a retro vibe and offers cafeteria style meals. The options were a bit limited for a picky eater, but the main course seemed to fit the ascetic of the park. Even when it was busy, there were still seats available. There is an ice cream shop in this building, but closes early."

"One of the bigger dining hall in Yellowstone.
Has a selection of Asian and western options.
Cafeteria style. You line up and pick up your food.
Serving both hot and cold options.
There are also options for kids like cereal, milk etc.
Dessert options also available.
There is a connected bar on the right and a gift shop on the left.
Can be crowded but have both indoor and outdoor seating.
Should be no issue getting a table."

"We came here after going to Artist's Point and a few other places. The food here is decent, and the layout is interesting. It looks a lot like a college dining hall, with you getting a tray and picking out food. They were missing a few things like Hamburgers and they were out of hot dogs. Overall a decent place."

Restaurants in Yellowstone National Park
Diners pack this mid-century-modern–inspired restaurant for casual breakfasts, as well as lunches and dinners that deviate from your standard national park fare. Design your own wok meal with veggies, meat, and toppings, or choose a protein and sauce on a three-item combo plate. It's nothing special, but it is the best of the dining options in Canyon Village.
Meet The Woman At The Heart Of Yellowstone National Park (Your Belly Will Thank You)
The Canyon Lodge Eatery is Yellowstone’s answer to the rising trend of food halls, an elevated form of cafeteria where a wide variety of options are available in a single location. The recently renovated Eatery has the feel of a large-scale classic diner with a modern sensibility (teal, orange and yellow stools and couches replacing red booths and checkered floors) and, like the gourmet food halls popping up across the country, is trending more toward quality ingredients and individual preparation, rather than cafeteria-style assembly line service. You can certainly grab traditional comfort foods like soups, stews and rotisserie chicken, but the Eatery is also unveiling two new options with fresh, local ingredients in 2019.
The Perfect 12-Day Road Trip Itinerary for Montana, Wyoming, and the Dakotas
Check out the visitor center here to learn all about the Yellowstone Super Volcano, and grab a quick lunch at the Canyon Lodge Cafeteria. Next, it's on to see the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. There's a North Rim and a South Rim drive here, with several short hikes to overlooks. You can walk to the brink of both the Upper and Lower falls, and I also highly recommend driving out to Artist's Point, which has arguably the best view of the entire canyon.
