"Update on my review: I was very disheartened when my fiancé and I used self checkout because the girl working that area literally stood right next to us watching us scan each item. It was extremely uncomfortable. We go to this store every week, sometimes multiple times a week, and always use self checkout and they are always very friendly and even say, "thank you" when you walk away. This girl was not friendly. She said nothing to us, not even a smile. She literally just stood right next to me and watched my fiancé scan everything. My fiancé works as a juvenile corrections officer and I work for an insurance company. We do not steal! It rubbed both of us the wrong way, I think my fiancé more because it felt racial. I looked around and everyone at self serve was white including myself and my fiancé is Latin. It just felt very intentional. She didn't walk away once to check on anyone else. It was very uncomfortable. She was there at 4:15pm today, Aug. 20th. If the manager could talk to her that would be nice.

Very friendly employees throughout the store, from cashiers to the pharmacy. Adding on to this review: This stores employees always ask if I need help when I'm on an isle looking for items. If they can't tell me the isle number they always walk me to the isle and sometimes the exact product. I used to live in CA and they don't even acknowledge customers let alone offer to help so AZ definitely has better customer service. I come from a customer service manager background so this is not only smart but amazing to see smiling employee faces. Acknowledgment is the first point of customer service interaction. Again, this store is great, including the pharmacy. The pharmacy goes above and beyond for the patients. In CA no matter what pharmacy you went to they never smiled, they seemed angry and bothered and would argue and hang up on you if you had a wisdom about your prescription. Safeway pharmacy is the exact opposite. They actually want to help their patients. Thumbs up all around 👍"

"Holly went above and beyond. I don’t always enjoy my experience here. Most often the workers don’t seem to care or even want to be there. But Holly impressed me. My wife loves a specific flavor of sparkling water. We could have just bought what was there but we took a chance and asked if there was any in the back. Holly not only actually checked, she came out with two so we could get what we wanted and not settle. It might not seem like much but with the typical customer service now a days, this felt like the good old days. Thank you Holly!"
