What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vola's Dockside Grill offers a delightful waterfront dining experience with stunning Potomac River views. Diners rave about the fresh seafood, particularly the crab cakes and oysters, and praise the friendly and accommodating service. While many enjoy the ambiance and food, some reviews mention blandness in spicy dishes and occasional overcooked fried items.
"My sister and I went here for her birthday brunch. They really made a great effort to accommodate my gluten allergy—we got the crab dip appetizer, and they gave us celery and carrot sticks in addition to the crackers at no additional charge. Also, when we ordered the shrimp and grits to share as an entree, our server offered to have the kitchen plate it in two dishes rather than us sharing a plate. I was blown away by the customer service, the quality of the food, and the ambience of dining at Volas. I will definitely be coming back."
Erika Harris
"Both the crab cakes as well as the fish and chips were really good. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy and the I was surprised how crab filled the crab cakes were. Some places skimp on the crab but this place gave you a good amount. So I will definitely be returning to try more.
I was hoping to sit outside since the weather was good but apparently reservations only apply for indoor and the outdoors is first come first serve only.
I highly recommend Volas as a good 3rd date location."
Marcos Bolaños (The Flavor Analyst)
"The food and service were like Whoa! EVERYTHING was treated well. The calamari had tentacles and rings, seasoned well with fried red peppers which worked! The blackened shrimp were HUGE, full of flavor, and were THE BEST I have had. NOW the SEABASS was AHHMAZZING, cooked to PERFECTION, and paired well with the Orzo. I opted to omit tomatoes and added spinach, FIYA! I don't care for cooked tomatoes! The seafood pasta was full of crabmeat in every bite, lots of scallops, and the sauce, was GREAT. The rigatoni was not evenly al dente BUT if u like al dente, u will love this! Oh, the hush puppies, MUST try!"
