Reviews Summary

Rose's Luxury offers a creative and eclectic small plates experience with exceptional service. While many diners rave about unique flavor combinations and the attentive staff, some find the price point high and certain dishes not to their full satisfaction, though the overall dining experience is consistently praised.

"I was gifted a dinner here and two of my adult children and I arrived for a Thursday evening service.

The setting is beautiful, like an outdoor courtyard, but inside! The staff was welcoming, energetic and friendly. Throughout the evening, attention was showered upon us with each new course.

The cocktails we ordered were well made and delicious. Each course was delivered with an explanation. Although we enjoyed some items more than others, we tried everything. It was delicious and we were stuffed when we were done.

If you are looking for a special evening with delicious food and great service, I highly recommend."

Michele Avrick

"For a restaurant of this caliber, I was expecting a little more, to be honest. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was pleasant. We tried all the dishes offered on the menu. My favorite dish was the Pork and Lychee salad, it was hands-down the star dish of the night.

The pasta itself was cooked perfectly. With the exception of the Italian Beef Sandwich pasta, which was good, the other pasta dishes just felt like they were all missing something to balance the flavors and textures. The Tteokbokki a la Vodka, in particular, a dish I excited to try, was overly sweet and saucy.

The deep fried pork was my favorite of the shareables. The soubise-bechamel-crystal sauce was very good. When there is a hamburger on a menu at a Michelin-starred restaurant, you expect it to be damned good. Unfortunately it was an overpriced lackluster experience, tasted like an average burger and fries at a chain restaurant.

We had the mole negro sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and it was probably my second favorite thing I had.

While the service and beverages were phenomenal, our party was disappointed by the culinary experience, we felt there are better options in the DC area."

Elizabeth Shafto

"A very solid 4.5 out of 5. Rounding up because the service is just so friendly and top-notch.

I was a walk-in and sat at the bar on a Thursday night and got the tasting menu. Was overall pleasantly surprised with all the food given.

I think it's an amazing value for all of the food you are given. I definitely left very full.

Things that I am not a huge fan of such as cauliflower, raisins, etc I gobbled up because they were so we'll prepared.

I thought the Happy Meal was well presented but was the miss on the menu. Burger was awesome but I thought it just a step above Shake Shack, for example. Fries also had good seasoning but we're incredibly salty.

The other dishes I had were all really good and I'll definitely return."

Most Romantic Restaurants in Washington DC for a Perfect Date Night

Back in the day, it was practically a badge of honor to get a table at Rose’s Luxury, Aaron Silverman’s cult favorite New American restaurant nestled into a converted Capitol Hill townhouse. The restaurant became as synonymous with delicious small plates as it did with the ever-present line that made its way down the street as diners sometimes waited hours for a table. Considering that countless new restaurants have opened with just as much initial buzz, we’re almost surprised to say that the line is still there—a testament to just how good this Michelin-starred restaurant really is—but now you can use their online system to book date night same-day, taking a bit of the stress out of the experience and allowing you to focus on the stripped down but chic decor, the legendary lychee and pork salad, and, of course, your date.

The 15 Best Restaurants In Capitol Hill 2024 - Washington DC

String lights, romantic brick walls, and a menu designed to share have made Rose’s Luxury the ultimate date-night spot in the neighborhood. It’s been years since it opened—and now, there are a few more options in the area—but Rose’s is still reliable for nights when you want something elevated but easy. Dinner is a set price menu of $118 per person, with perplexing (and delicious) combinations like simmered Korean rice cakes with Italian red sauce, and mole ice cream.

Rose’s Luxury has been causing quite the stir on 8th Street – the no-reservation policy results in waits of more than an hour to be seated. Good things come to those who wait though, and at Rose’s they are in the form of delicious and creatively-prepared dishes, such as spaghetti with spicy strawberry sauce and the infamous pork sausage with habanero and lychee salad. Don’t forget to order a drink or two: the bartenders at Rose’s whip up one seriously mean cocktail.

At Rachael Jennings’s Dupont pizzeria, the former Rose’s Luxury sous chef giddily fuses her pies with Italian subs, Big Macs, and for this one, Caesar salad. Jennings’s crust is thin and flavorful (the dough ferments for two days) and makes an excellent base for her kale salad tossed with zingy dressing, Parmesan, and a blizzard of breadcrumbs.
