Village at Shirlington’s Palette 22 organized the first worker relief distribution, offering fresh produce, milk and toilet paper to over 80 Alexandria Restaurant Partners (ARP) employees. Through community support and its partners including International Gourmet Foods, Adams Burch and Keany Produce, they have raised more than $18,000 for the ARP family. With a goal of $100,000, they are encouraging the community to purchase a gift card of which 50% will be donated directly to employee relief efforts.

Not wanting the evening to end after we had a fabulous dinner at Carlyle in Village at Shirlington, we headed to Palette 22, a block away. We had beer and after-dinner cocktails at this casual restaurant, including a Holy Guava made with mezcal and an Espresso Martini. A small plate of marinated cucumbers was the perfect snack when we got a little peckish a couple of hours after dinner.

No where else in Northern Virginia can you eat and drink while watching artists work. At Palette 22, the large space is covered in intriguing, colorful pieces, and in the corner of the bar an artist works on their craft right in front of you—a sign even reads: Please talk to the artist. But a bit of creative insight isn’t the only reason to stop in, especially during happy hour.
