Reviews Summary

Diners consistently praise Haute Dogs for its creative gourmet hot dogs and flavorful hand-cut fries, noting the friendly service and clean, well-decorated atmosphere. While many rave about the unique flavor combinations, some mention that the hot dogs, though good, might not be the absolute best they've ever had. The fries, however, are frequently highlighted as a standout item.

"Fantastic food, good service and fair prices. Took my family of five here and everyone found something they loved. I had the DC Dog with bbq sauce, onions, pickle and Bleu cheese. It was great. The whole place was neat and clean."

Joe Williams

"I ordered two hotdogs - one Coney Island and one bombshell. They were solid dogs, but not the best I’ve ever had. I’d like to go back and try their burgers and fries, as they looked very good ! The decor, layout, and service was excellent as they made plays on their “doggy board” with dogs 🐶 posted everywhere. Would I go again - yes. Is it the best hot dog I’ve ever had- no. Service/staff was very good- kind and engaging. Worth a shot, in my opinion."

Jordan Healy

"Stopped by one night on the recommendation of a friend. Weather was nice so we could eat outside. Kept the hot dog fairly traditional... The Three Piece Suit - chili, melted cheese, and onion. The Haute Fries - curry ketchup and Sriracha called to me since I was craving curry wurst. Finished up with an Oreo shake.

Hot dog was good: the split-top, buttered bun is a nice change and the natural casing is a snap that I like. Fries were a nice mix of savory curry with a little heat."

If you have any doubts about just how special a hot dog can be, get yourself to this narrow Old Town shop and order a bánh mì dog. It takes the accessories that make the Vietnamese sub such a kaleidescope of flavor and texture (sliced jalapeños, matchsticks of carrot and cucumber, a zigzag of thick mayo) and transports them to a perfect canvas—a griddled all-beef frank on a toasty, liberally buttered bun. That and a wiener-style rethink of Peking duck are among the more creative offerings.

Sometimes a craving strikes that only a good old hot dog can satisfy. That’s when I head to Haute Dogs, a 35-seat gourmet hot dog joint in Arlington’s Williamsburg Shopping Center, where 15 versions of the beloved street snack go for $6.75 apiece. Chloé Swanson, who grew up in Arlington and co-founded the restaurant with her mother, Pamela Swanson, and stepfather, Lionel Holmes, is usually on hand to help narrow down the choices.

Situated on Montgomery Street in North Old Town, Haute Dog and Fries serves the same hot dogs you would find at Fenway Park, although these aren’t your typical ballpark dogs. At this eatery, each hot dog comes straight off the grill and is served atop a New England-style bun. It’s hen blanketed with fresh toppings, some of which include caramelized onions, mangoes, jalapeno peppers, and a homemade chili.
