Reviews Summary

Bayou Bakery is celebrated for its authentic New Orleans-inspired comfort food, especially its beignets and biscuits. The unique specialty drinks and cozy, funky atmosphere contribute to a positive dining experience. However, some reviews mention slow service due to made-to-order food and occasional issues with drink sweetness or staff communication.

"Food was great here. I got the biscuits and gravy (Louisiana style) and everything tasted homemade and fresh. I followed that by a whole milk hot latte, pretty good. My boyfriend got a avocado toast, he enjoyed it. We shared the beignets and they tasted good they were not to sweet which I liked. We went on a Saturday which you can imagine was busy, but it was fast service. We will be coming here again for Brunch."

Fabiola Castro

"Great spot for breakfast in my opinion. The prices are decent, but the service is slow due to the FRESH made to order food. This is not a fast food rush type spot. They are quick with some items but the more complex meal items they are making from scratch and you can taste it.

Great to grab coffee and beignets or a biscuit sandwich."

Jarred Mack

"This place is busy! Definitely order ahead. Breakfast sandwich was kind of small but perfectly proportioned. Think the bread type could’ve been more inspiring. Iced coffee worked its magic on me. Perfectly sweet but not too much. I’ll need to plan to go back to try their beignets and other treats."

Best Coffee Shops to Work in Washington DC: Good Places to Read & Study

ArlingtonFor the past decade, Bayou has been attracting folks from Arlington and across the river thanks to its casual New Orleans vibe. Monday through Friday, you can dependably get your work done through classic coffees, the whipped coffee that took over TikTok months ago, or spicy sips of the cajun latte, just be forewarned, it does feature bourbon alongside cayenne and cinnamon. Chef, owner, and New Orleans native David Guas also offers a food menu of bites that work for breakfast or lunch, and there’s also beer, frozen daiquiris, and other boozy beverages for when work is done (or dragging on too long).

The Coffee Issue: Arlington coffee shops

While coffeehouse-loungers might not be able to crank out hours of work at Bayou Bakery—there’s plenty of ambient noise with a playlist of brass band music and a general sense of New Orleans revelry—the shop exudes warmth and hospitality with a mini-living room (leather couch, chairs and a coffee table) complete with an exposed brick wall ornamented with plenty of Big Easy-themed decor. Or you can slide into a booth or pick a seat at the counter and wait to hear “Evangeline”—they’ll let you know your order’s ready by calling out a Louisiana parish name. –WD Wi-Fi: free; Beans: Counter Culture Coffee (Durham, North Carolina), for sale // 1515 N.

35 Delicious, Delightful Coffee Shops in Arlington, VA

This offbeat café and restaurant in the middle of the busy Court House area is a locals’ and travelers’ favorite for a caffeine boost, and maybe a beignet. The owners’ love of New Orleans and Southern cuisine shines through in every bit of the menu and décor, and of course in the coffee bar. French-Louisianan flavors like café au lait and chicory are highlighted, while the teas feature some uncommon and tasty choices like chai, yerba mate and turmeric ginger (and if you’re all done with work for the day, it’s not hard to find a spiked hot beverage or two!).

This folksy cafe, a beacon for Louisiana transplants in need of a beignet fix, is the rare spot that’s as well suited for breakfast (those biscuit-egg sandwiches) as it is for happy hour, when you can pair discounted drinks with satisfying snacks such as deviled eggs and hot nuts. In between, hit the bakery cases for pralines and lemon icebox cake, and the sandwich roster for specialties including a BLT fixed up with Benton’s bacon and oven-cured tomatoes. Also good: Biscuits with pepper jelly; andouille-sausage dog; roast-beef po’ boy.
