This strip-mall Mediterranean restaurant is one of those hidden treasures that is well-known by locals but somewhat off the tourist beaten path. We stumbled upon it after discovering Monkeypod, also located in the Wailea Gateway Center, was closed for a private party and so we wandered over to check out the menu at Pita Paradise. What caught my eye was the daily fish special grilled Mahi Mahi served with Greek potatoes and salad.

Located in the Wailea Gateway Center, Pita Paradise employs its very own restaurant fisherman, creating a sea-to-table menu with Greek and Italian influences. Start your meal with the Ziziki Bread and American Greek Salad before venturing on to dishes like the Lamb Gnocchi and Greek God’s Platter with Mousaka, Gyro, Spinach Tiropita, and Tzatziki. The Baklava Ice Cream Cake for dessert is also a must.

Pita Paradise | Wailea - This spot has some of the best Mediterranean food I’ve ever had. Pita Paradise serves the classics like hummus and Greek Salad but the star is the owner caught fresh fish they feature. My go-to order was the fresh catch pita sandwich topped with Mediterranean slaw, roasted peppers and dill scallionaise wrapped in house-made pita bread.

Pita Paradise in Wailea Gateway has been serving their world-famous Baklava Ice Cream Cake to rave reviews, and it’s become something of a local obsession. This frozen masterpiece transforms traditional baklava’s honey-soaked phyllo pastry and nuts into an irresistible ice cream cake.

Pita Paradise Mediterranean Bistro CLOSED in Kihei but is still open in Wailea. The Kihei location was a small restaurant set back off the street in the Kalama Village shopping center, across from the whale statue in Kalama Park, in Kihei. The address was 1913 South Kihei Road.

There aren’t too many places serving Greek cuisine on the Hawaiian Islands. This is what makes Pita Paradise a great place to go when you are craving Greek food. This charming bistro uses its own local fishermen, its owner, to bring in fresh fish for the meals.
