What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vitek's BBQ is celebrated for its authentic Texas barbecue and signature Gut Pack, a unique and hearty dish. While many praise the tender brisket, moist pulled pork, and delicious sides like mac & cheese, some diners find the meats lacking in smoky flavor or have experienced issues with fatty cuts in the Gut Pack. Service is generally friendly, though a few reviews mention less-than-ideal management interactions regarding order mistakes.
"We have eaten here many times and the brisket is always great. But, we recently had them cater a lunch for a family get together. Brisket, sausage, coleslaw, beans, potato salad, mac n' cheese. It was the best they ever made of everything! Everyone commented on how good it was. And the service was amazing! We changed the time of pick up twice and they didn't mind a bit. They were extremely busy that day (BU graduation) and got our order perfect! Thank you Vitek’s!"

"I heard about this place from the locals and decided to give it a try. First, let me say that this place closes early, so make sure to plan accordingly. I ordered the full "PORK GUT PACK," which comes with brisket, sausage, cheese, jalapeños, fritos, and other toppings to your liking. The food was decent, I would like more flavor as the meats didn't have that smokey bbq flavor I was looking for. Pretty decent portions what you paid for. All in all, I recommend at least giving this place a try if you're looking for some BBQ."

"We went here for dinner at around 7pm. They close at 8pm so we went in expecting the meats to be a little dry. When we got there it was really busy. There’s was a line to order but it went by pretty quick. All the tables and booths were taken up luckily one opened up when we were ready to sit. I think this place wants to maximize the amount of people that can dine but all the tables sit 4-8 people or more. Most groups were 2 people so the 2 people would take up an entire booth designed for 6 people or more. I would recommended Viteks to get more 2 people sittings.
The food was in fact a little dry but it was still really good. The flavor was great and I know if I return it’ll be during the lunch meal and I can have higher expectations on the freshness.
I recommend going early since when we went they were almost running out of brisket, they were out of ribs, and green beans. So the earlier the better. The Mac n cheese was amazing though. Everything tasted great.
I feel if I went there at 11am it would easily get 5 stars."

Vitek’s — Death, taxes, and the Gut Pak; these things are certain. The neighborhood, the clientele, and the world have all changed in the 105 years that Vitek’s has been in operation. And while the Gut Pak’s distant relative, the frito pie, wasn’t invented until the 1940s, it would not achieve its ultimate form until Vitek’s elevated the simple combination of corn chips, chili, cheese and onions by getting rid of the chili in favor of slow roasted brisket with beans, and adding jalapeños (with sausage, if you dare).
