Reviews Summary

Bottega Italia is a popular Italian eatery praised for its authentic pizzas and handmade pastas, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. While many rave about the food and service, some diners note that the pizza crust can be bland and that certain dessert items are frequently unavailable. The lively ambiance and outdoor seating are highlights, though it's a busy spot that doesn't accept reservations, meaning waits are common.

"Really really good food! Best calzone I’ve had to date. The wine was really good too. I had the Malbec. Gluten free pasta and pizza options. Sitting outside and watching the activity go by in Temecula is a good way to spend a meal. The bathrooms are clean and cute! The only thing that was odd is that there wasn’t any house water? We could have purchased still or sparkling but tap was not available. That didn’t ruin the experience though, the food was worth it. And all of the servers were wonderful!"

"Bottega is a fun and lively spot with great servers. It's also very popular and can be hard to get into in Old Town. I only had their pizza, fries, and ice cream, so I can't comment on their other dishes. The pizza missed the mark. After coming back from Italy (Rome, Naples, Almalfi, Salerno) I was looking for authentic italian pizza. One of the pizzas I loved most in Italy was the Diavola, which was offered here too. Italian pizza has a flavorful and meaty texture to the crust. Bottega's crust had no flavor and lacked the texture. They are definitely a knotch above your average pizzeria. Of course we aren't in Italy, but you can find similar quality here in the US. That's the standard I was looking for based on Bottega's name and the reviews I read prior; also based on the price.

Let me add a note about the gelato, it was average. Definitely not similar to real gelato in Italy and not on par with higher quality ice cream and gelato in the US.

I will add that their drinks looked fantastic and the bartenders were very skilled. Unfortunately, I gave up drinking.

Overall, I actually enjoyed this restaurant and I will go back. The atmosphere and location are fun and the food is good, just not great."

"A beautifully decorated restaurant with a warm and inviting ambience. The waiting staff was exceptionally courteous, and professional. Everything is kept spotlessly clean, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience.

Negative: I was here for breakfast little after 9am and there was apparently only one wiateress who was bit overwhelmed while attending to all the patrons."

The Best Restaurants for a Romantic Dinner in Old Town Temecula

Bottega Italia, one of the Poggio Leono-owned restaurants, is a bright bistro-style cafe on Front Street with a full bar and large outdoor patio offering everything Italian from gelato and pastries to wood-fired pizzas and homemade pasta. On a busy night, it might be fun to squeeze in at the small bar to snack on fried calamari and rock shrimp ($23) and a hand-tossed Napoletana pizza ($18.50) with a perfectly chewy crust. Sip a glass of their Montepulciano, Aglianico, or perhaps an Italian cocktail while you watch the hustle behind the bar.

Bottega Italia delivers an authentic Italian experience in Old Town Temecula. As someone who grew up in an Italian-American family and can’t spend enough time exploring Italian cuisine in either Italy or here in the States, I choose Bottega Italia as my Italian go-to in Temecula. And although I can’t say no to any of Italy’s 11 styles of pizza, Chicago’s Deep Dish, or even the unique style of pizza that constitutes one of the famous foods of Colorado, I am always a sucker for an authentic Neapolitan pizza.
