Reviews Summary
Taos Pizza Out Back is lauded for its unique and delicious pizzas, with many praising the generous salads and eclectic patio ambiance. However, some diners have experienced significant issues with slow service and long wait times, leading to frustration despite the quality of the food itself. The prices are also noted by some as being on the higher side.
"This pizza was delicious! My hubby and I ordered a slice each, huge! We both loved it! We sat on the patio under full shade with our two labs. Would definitely come back."

"Came in to Taos for work this week. And growing up coming to Taos I remember I would always want to stop here to get some pizza so today I decided to try it. Probably the worst experience I could probably name coming to Taos. I waited for almost an hour after I ordered my pizza and it was just a simple pizza half pepperoni half cheese. I’m not sure what was going on today, but I had to write it this low because I have high expectations for this place and it failed."

"Arrived at Taos pizza Out Back around 4:30 to get their before the dinner crowd. A very friendly server sat us down, got our drinks and order (2 cokes, 1 lg carnivore pizza, 1 pint pesto sauce) in within ten minutes! There were three other tables when we arrived who had not received their food yet and two tables that were on their way out. Near us a couple waited for over an hour and forty minutes to receive their salads. Their pasta came out layer cold and had to be reheated. By 6 pm our server let us know the kitchen had lost our food ticket and would be starting our order then which we understood. She came back out to let us know the new wait would be longer because more people had arrived by then. We asked for an estimated wait time as we live nearly 3 hours away. We did not get an estimated wait time and could not get confirmation that our order was even being made, so we decided to leave. The server was kind and offered to pay for our drink bill herself but we did not want to do that to her, it was her third day on the job. Management did not offer to cover our drink bill, and the cooks told my boyfriend that they just take orders as they come. The woman at the front who we assume was management (as she was not serving tables or cooking) charged us for our two Coke’s without any apology or even acknowledgment. We tipped the server directly for her kindness. We will not be going back sadly. This location was one of my favorites a little over 6 years ago when I lived in Taos."

Excellent Pizza with shades of NY: Jennifer DeBow, Mondo Italiano partner, knew exactly what she wanted to do when she conceived of the restaurant — she longed to capture the flavor of the East Coast Italian American food that she had enjoyed during her childhood in Manhattan. ""I put together the menu based on the dishes I used to eat in New York City," she said. "Each item has been taken from a specific restaurant." Taos New Mexico 72 Hour Vacation Travel Guide Day 1
If you just want a salad and slice of pizza, there isn't a better place than the Taos Pizza Out Back. The salads are piled high with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes and cucumbers, all doused with a garlicky homemade dressing. Among the excellent pizzas, try specialty creations like the Greek pizza with fresh spinach, kalamata olives, fresh basil and tomatoes; or the delicious Taos pie, which features green chile, mushrooms and, yes, beans.

Taos Pizza Outback has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. With crayons and paper to draw with while you wait for MASSIVE pizzas, pastas, wine and beer for Mom and Dad, a fireplace inside and a patio outside–this place is home to a lot of special memories for me and maybe for you, too. Their dough is non-dairy and gluten-free crust is also available upon request, as well as any topping under the sun.
Good Eats in Taos, New Mexico
With a very casual, laidback atmosphere, the restaurant is located in back of another business establishment which is located on one of the main streets of the town. Featuring gourmet and made to order pizzas of all kinds. While it has a small dining area inside the restaurant, most patrons choose to dine outside in the graffiti-decorated courtyard at one of the numerous picnic tables scattered there.

Pizza out back was great last night BUT they prioritize to go orders and waited 1.5 hours before getting our food. They had a good beer selection so we just waited.
