Reviews Summary

Doc Martin's is celebrated for its historic ambiance and innovative regional cuisine, with standout dishes like the chile relleno and unique cocktails drawing praise. However, some diners have noted issues with slow service and find the prices to be on the higher side, though many still recommend the experience for its overall charm and flavorful food.

"The red crunchy bits (red corn chips) on the outside of the rellenos is brilliant! And so delicious inside.
The green Chile stew is still #1 in New Mexico (AFAIK), please tell me where it's better than here?
And the chocolate ice cream was so incredibly rich and the chorros were amazing and fresh.
Always music every night here and no cover charge.
A Taos Original iconic legacy."

"Tl;dr-Honestly, this is a great place to visit while in Taos. As long as you don't get our server.
Also, make a reservation and don't roll the dice on a table.

Highly recommended.
So why 4*?
Our particular server was just not great. She seemed to be actively trying not to work. You know when that changed? When it became apparent that my family of four was spending more than 50 / person. That's too sad.
The tables adjacent to us had much better service than we did. They were constantly checking on their tables and getting their drinks.
The drinks we got (by the time we got them) were watered down. We watched the bartender, who btw was amazing, pour them and then they sat for about 7 min while our server was nowhere to be found.

We ordered soup/stew. She brought it to us without a spoon. After waiting 4 minutes I asked a bus boy for a spoon because she dropped it off and then she went AWOL.

Look, as my wife said, maybe she had a bad day. Maybe her personal life is rough right now
As a human being I'm sensitive to that. As a patron, I'm annoyed because I have to separate personal and business life. I do it out of necessity. Because I'm expected to i unfortunately expect others to also do it.

Outside of our server, everything about this place was great. Would go back and just request a different server. I saw our neighbors experience and know it was better than ours"

"I had the opportunity to dine with you last night (Friday 4/25) and wanted to share some feedback from my experience.

I ordered a glass of the Vivac Cab, the wine oxidized as if it had been open for a few days, the second glass I ordered was the Bonanza Cab which my server said she had to open fresh bottle and it was fine.

The presentation on the appetizer was fantastic, unfortunately the flavor was less than expected. the Enchilada sauce had almost no flavor.

I ordered the adovada plate, I mean I'm visiting New Mexico why not... this entire dish was a mis... the rice and beans had zero flavor... Adovada is supposed to be cooked in red chilis... the color of the meat was brown... no hint of chilis and was very salty. Definitely not a good representation.

Service was ok, but I felt like my server spent all her time at her other tables and only stopped by if I gave her a look to swing by... also I'm pretty sure you should clear the entree plate before dropping the check.. I had to move the plate to sign my check.

I was in Food & Beverage for 25years, your facility has charm and character... it would have been a home run if the food & bev stood up to the"

A Taste Of Taos

For a hip and happening vibe, book a table at Doc Martin’s at the Historic Taos Inn—and you will need to book in advance, because this spot is popular with locals and visitors alike. The restaurant, named after Dr. Thomas Paul “Doc” Martin, the county’s first physician, is famous for its hospitality, a reflection on the kindhearted frontier doc who was known to accept a chicken or a sack of potatoes as payment from patients too poor to pay him in conventional currency. Adam Kerr, the friendly food and beverage director, says that every effort is made to draw from seasonal, regional produce and local farmers, and the restaurant also utilizes its own kitchen garden for herbs and greens.
