At Ski Time Square, locals and visitors gather at Slopeside Grill for pub food and beer beginning in the early afternoons. A short hike uphill from Slopeside is the T-Bar, as close to a Euro-style après-ski vibe as you’ll find this side of the Atlantic. I’m sure the appropriately named Slopeside Grill has an interior bar, but why would you bother when the sprawling outdoor area, which locals call “the Beach,” has ski in/ski out access?. Picture hundreds of riders fresh from the slopes soaking up the sun in plastic chairs and ordering drinks from the massive outdoor bar carved out of ice.

Gagliano says that ever since the restaurant opened in 1996, it’s always seated patrons outside, whether they’re at the ice bar or on the grassy lawn. But as beautiful as the views are, he says, that’s not the only highlight of eating at Slopeside. “I think the staff is the huge reason for our success here,” he says.

Slopeside is located in the mountain village with a creek flowing in its backyard at the base of the ski hill. We went to Slopeside two different nights (see itinerary) because we couldn’t resist the laid back, family-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant had live music on the outdoor lawn both nights that we visited.

Its brick oven pizza and great drinks, including a varied beer selection, are the Slopeside Grill's claim to fame - apart from its fabled outdoor seating area easily accessible to skiers. Live music is played on Thursdays and Fridays (3-6pm). Late-night happy hour with special deals on beer and pizza 10pm-12am.

As the name implies, this ski-in ski-out bar and grill is located right on Steamboat’s ski mountain. Although it’s open during the summer as well, Slopeside is the best restaurant in Steamboat Springs for powder days. Ski your heart out all day and end up back at Slopeside for an après snack and cold beer.

If you want to go on an après pub crawl, head next door to the Slopeside Grill; another good spot to watch the stragglers coming off the hill. Saddles is another obvious spot for après drinks and they have gas fires out the front to keep you warm, and they also have an Austrian style drinking tent.

The Snowbird Restaurant, located slopeside at the Ptarmigan Inn, offers the best value and convenience for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Après Ski Happy Hour during ski season.

Apres Ski Bar recommendations: Try the "Ice Bar" at "Slopeside Grill" at the base of the mountain for live entertainment and a bar made of 3000 blocks of ice.

If you're coming off the mountain apres, stop at T-Bar for drinks and food; Slopeside is also a good option, skiers right at the bottom of the mountain.
