Chill Restaurant & Bar is not the type of place you would expect to discover delicious fish tacos in St. Pete Beach. Locals widely know them for their fantastic seafood, pasta, and loaded tater tots, but they’re holding an ace up their sleeve: the “fish of the day” tacos. The best part of the Chill experience is that you never know what the fish of the day before arriving.

Long time readers have read our feature stories about Chill on Corey Ave. before. We have followed Ruthie since 2011, when she started Steam, a little coffee shop two blocks west. Chill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, with a delicious, creative menu, a premium full liquor bar, all you can eat Sunday brunch with an expansive Bloody Mary bar.

There’s a bit of a story behind the ‘accidental restaurateurs’ Ruthie and Paul Buxbaum, who run Chill on Corey Avenue in St. Petersburg. What began in 2011 as a little coffee shop called Steam quickly grew into a breakfast spot within weeks of opening. And by 2012, Chill had not only become a full-fledged restaurant, but had been voted Business of the Year.

Chill Restaurant & Bar offers a small but fantastic brunch menu Friday, Saturday and Sunday which entrees like a variety of crepes, avocado toast, steak and eggs and Eggs Benedict. Plus, they can make you any brunch drink you can imagine here – “we can craft anything”. Try their Blood Mary or shrimp and grits, which are two of their specialties.

Small plates, cocktails, and live music are three things that the Chill Restaurant and Bar does extremely well!. On Sundays, the brunch menu features dishes influenced by the best of the bay, such as Cuban sandwiches, lobster bisque, falafel, shrimp and grits, and grouper benedicts. Seriously, there's something for everyone here!

We had to include Chill Restaurant and Bar on our list because they’re the gift that keeps on giving, whether its happy hour or an amazing dining experience you’re seeking, here is where you’ll find it all. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner 6 days/week. Qw love that their is filled with American cuisine & is vegan friendly.

Chill has some kick ass early bird specials and they have deals on food and drinks every single day. The street that the restaurant sits on is pretty quiet, traffic wise, so I would definitely recommend sitting out on their terrace. The spinach lasagna was delicious, but their lemon hummus was literally sent from the heavens.

For a sophisticated brunch menu with something for everyone (yes, including vegans and gluten-free folks), head to Chill on Corey Avenue – the bloody Mary bar here is a must. Just across Gulf Boulevard, beloved breakfast spot The Frog Pond has great eggs Benedict and omelettes so big you may want to share.

On the pastel-colored row of beachy Eighth Avenue shops, check out Bamboozle and Etc., which are both brimming with stylish coastal wares. This short street dead-ends into Merry Pier, with an old bait shop where you can book fishing charters. Hop on the shuttle to Shell Key, an undeveloped barrier island.

Without knowing about Chill Restaurant & Bar prior to visiting St. Pete Beach, you would miss it on your typical drive in or out. Tucked away, on what feels like a sleepy downtown street, sits Chill Restaurant & Bar. Once on the street, you can’t miss it.

The name says it all for this one: a place with chilled and good vibes. This American fusion-style restaurant has a creative and very eclectic menu. Must-tries include Ahi Tuna Salad, Beef Carpaccio, Seafood Nachos, Meatloaf, and Lobster Ravioli.

Chill Restaurant & Bar in Downtown St. Pete Beach gets rave reviews, as does Gigi’s (Italian food). Next on my list of places to try is Odi’s Mediterranean Kitchen, because apparently it’s really authentic and vegan-friendly!
