What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sangrias Wine and Tapas Bar is praised for its excellent location and signature sangrias, particularly from its people-watching balcony seats. However, some diners have reported disappointing food quality and instances of poor customer service from management. Despite mixed reviews on food, the ambiance and drinks remain a draw for many visitors.
"Fantastic and delicious. The Grateful Fruit sangria 👍, and the bruschetta and caprese on point as well. Server Jess friendly and attentive. A little pricey , sure, but the food was amazing AND this IS a tourist town. Also, a fun balcony to people watch from. Thank you!"

"Not my typical to leave a “not so good review” but there is always a few times.
This by far was not a good experience… we had the Spanish Burrito (taste like Taco Bell), the crab cake (mush cake and did not have that crab authenticity taste) and the red pepper humus which came out with tortilla chips instead of pita chips.
The hummus was probably the best of the three things we ordered.
Plenty of seating and our server was nice and attentive but the food made it a not so nice experience and a will not come back to. You would think the name sangria and tapas would bring authenticity to the table in St Augustine’s heart of a historical area… well it wasn’t the case!
Very disappointed

"In St. Augustine for the better part of the day (today) and so many restaurants to pick from (around 2pm). It’s a heavy tourist footprint so it’s expected that the experience can be a hit or miss. In such an environment I am more tolerant.
Well, Sangria Wine and Tapas Bar was a hit. There were six of us and I went up to the restaurant first to check it it out and there was plenty of room. Yeah, I did get a hesitation vibe from the bartender but I didn’t let it bother me as I am sensitive to tourist zones.
We sat and Aaron (our host) was excellent and made the experience positive. The Sangria was delicious and no complaints on the tapas we ordered. The ambience was enjoyable.
We would most certainly return (as a group) and in my case will also try to visit just with my wife to enjoy the balcony."

Best Places for People-Watching
Getting a balcony seat at Sangrias Wine and Tapas Bar gives you a great view of St. George Street because every balcony seat is right against the railing. Some restaurants have outdoor dining spots that are wider and you may get a wall seat (which isn't quite as fun), but every balcony table at Sangrias has prime people-watching. Now, apart from the fact that this is incredible people-watching, the dining area outside is also really cozy and intimate, with high chairs and high tables that give that perfect lookout spot over the people below.

We love coming to Sangria’s after dinner for music and a great glass of (you guessed it) sangria. Since it is right off of St. George Street it is in the prime location for people-watching from the second story deck. They offer tapas, live music, and 7 kinds of homemade sangria made with either white or red wine.
