In downtown Springdale, you'll find an even better selection at Sol Foods Downtown Supermarket, which carries conventional groceries plus organic food and gourmet items, at 995 Zion Park Blvd. (tel. 435/772-3100; www.solfoods.com). It's open daily 7am to 11pm. On the south end of Springdale (the opposite side of town from the national park), is the Springdale Fruit Company, 2491 Zion Park Blvd. (tel. 435/772-3222; www.springdalefruit.com), which is open only from mid-March through mid-November (daily 9am-7pm) and sells fresh organic fruits, vegetables, and juices (try the fruit smoothies), plus trail mix and baked goods.

Whether you are looking to sit down to enjoy a sandwich or shopping for a few groceries to take on your trip or even searching for some camping equipment that you may have forgotten at home, Sol Foods has pretty much everything you could ever need while traveling to Zion National Park.

If you are in search of groceries, Sol Foods Market has two locations in Springdale, one in the mall near the pedestrian entrance to Zion National Park and the other located farther down the strip at 995 Zion Park Blvd. If you are looking for a bigger supermarket and are willing to drive a bit, both Davis Food & Drug (495 North State Street, La Verkin) and Lin's Marketplace (1120 W State Street, Hurricane) are great places to stock up on groceries.

We set an early alarm and had breakfast in our hotel room, which we bought the night before at Sol Foods Supermarket in Springdale. Next, we drove to Zion Visitor Center and had no problems parking because it was so early. We put our waterproofs on and grabbed our poles (which we rented the previous evening ready for this morning), before arriving as the third group in line for the first canyon shuttle.

It might not be on your radar as a “restaurant”, but they have a deli counter in the back of the store that sells paninis, pizzas, sandwiches, and soups. When all the restaurants were packed, we would go to Sol Foods and have a yummy meal within 15 minutes of ordering. They even have a microwave you can use if you purchase any frozen dinners and want to eat it there.

Shuttles start just outside the walk-in entrance to the Park, next to Sol Foods and close to the Main Visitor Center. If staying at one of the Park Campgrounds, hopping on the shuttle is easy. On busy days, limited parking in Zion often means visitors are required to park in town and hop on a Town Shuttle to get to the Visitor Center and Park shuttle system.

There are also ATMs in Springdale, at Sol Foods Supermarket & Deli, 95 Zion Park Blvd. (tel. 435/772-0277; www.solfoods.com), and there is also an ATM, as well as other banking services, at Zions Bank, 921 Zion Park Blvd. (tel. 435/772-3274; www.zionsbank.com).

Located right off Zion Park Blvd., stop in the supermarket once you arrive. Grab snacks for your hikes like beef jerky, nuts, and apples. And don’t forget to stock up on breakfast food for some easy morning meals before you head out to the park for the day.

It’s a grocery store but if you make your way to the back of the store you’ll find a fresh salad bar with TONS of options. It’s the largest salad bar in town. You’ll also find a fresh deli that serves up grilled Panini’s, sandwiches, and homemade soup.

Are you planning on cooking something and forgot an ingredient?. Do you prefer to prepare your own food, but want to do your shopping in town?. Come to Sol Foods, the local grocery store, deli, and bakery.

If you’re looking for quick “grab and go” groceries, Sol Foods is the best option. They also have really great local Utah beer selection. It is a bit pricey but is one of the few options in town.

Sol Foods Supermarket is 200 yards up the road, less than 3 minutes' walk up Juniper Lane. They have a full-service grocery store with a deli, produce section, bakery, and more.

Groceries, firewood, and ice can be purchased at The Canyon Market or at Sol Foods. The Canyon Market also has some camp kitchen supplies if you forget any cooking necessities.

This was a great locally owned supermarket that had everything we needed to stock up for the trip, including cool shades and hats.

On the walk back to the hotel, we stopped at the neighborhood supermarket, Sol Foods, and picked up some water.
