Reviews Summary

The Girl & The Fig is praised for its inventive French country cuisine, charming atmosphere, and exceptional service, making it a standout in Sonoma. While many rave about signature dishes like the pork schnitzel and duck confit, some diners find certain offerings underwhelming or the ambiance too noisy. Overall, it's a highly recommended spot for a memorable dining experience.

"Brunch was more than excellent! Kelly from the hospitality team was amazing to work with for my large group.
Olivia was great and made delicious lavender latte’s for me.
Fig and arugula salad was such a stand out. Flat iron steak for the steak frites was cooked perfectly.
Outdoor patio seating was beautiful and well shaded.
Location is right off the corner of Sonoma Plaza and a fabulous area to walk and hang out."

Trisha Nguyen

"The Girl & The Fig in Sonoma delivered an outstanding dining experience. From the charming atmosphere to the beautifully prepared dishes, everything felt thoughtfully curated. The menu showcases fresh, seasonal ingredients with a French country flair, and every bite from the fig and arugula salad to the omelet was packed with flavor. The service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the wine list offered excellent local selections. We also enjoyed the house made smoked salmon. This spot truly captures the essence of Sonoma dining; elegant yet relaxed. A must visit when in wine country."

Ryan Samuel

"Came in on a sunday at 7:30pm, reserved online. Note a cancellation fee per person if done on short notice. No problems with parking at a nearby free street parking.

Food was fantastic, we ordered:
Appetizers: Fried green tomatoes, Potato soup, Smoked Salmon, & Duck liver mousse
Mains: Duck confit, Steak au poivre, Wild flounder meuniere
Dessert: Profiteroles, Creme brulee
Each one was lovely!

Service was top notch, Olivia was endearing but also very informative. Plates were reset for each section and care was given as needed.

Atmosphere was great, overall design was cozy and the heaters were just right for the chilly evening even if we were outside. Excellent places for groups of 2-4"

What are the 'must see/do's" in Sonoma County?

Sonoma and Healdsburg are both charming towns centered around their own town square. If you go to Healdsburg, I'd recommend a drive out of town on Dry Creek Road. You'll be right in the middle of the agricultural beauty of the vineyards, and you might see a small or even a larger winery that beckons you to stop.

Like the French-leaning food menu at this bar and restaurant inside the Sonoma Hotel, the drinks at the girl & the fig lean on Rhône varietals from vineyards both local and global. The proprietor, Sondra Bernstein, leverages her experience at nearby Viansa Winery to fill out the bar’s wine list with all sorts of tasty Grenache, Syrah, Carignane, Picpoul, and Mourvèdre. The cocktail list features rotating drinks with seasonal touches to match the garden-driven food, and it usually includes a few options with French ingredients like Lillet, Pineau des Charentes, or absinthe.

Located just off Sonoma’s central plaza, the girl & the fig (which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022) is a longtime favorite for French-influenced country cuisine in a casually gracious setting, with a menu that’s both seasonal and eternal. I do love the Fig and Arugula Salad (how could I not get something with the restaurant’s eponymous fruit in it?), livened with pecans and crumbles of goat cheese and as perfect as it is unfussy. Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad is a refreshing starter when it’s tomato season.
