What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Highliner Restaurant offers a cozy, family-friendly dining experience with a menu of classic comfort foods. While many praise the clam chowder and halibut fish and chips, some find the prices high for the quality. Service can be inconsistent, especially during busy periods, but the welcoming atmosphere and good beer selection are often highlighted as positives.
"We do a lot of traveling and eat out a lot. We really enjoyed this restaurant. We ordered the clam chowder, which was really good and had plenty of clams in it. It was nice and creamy and not watery like other places. We weren't hungry enough for 2 full entrees so we shared the cod fish and chips. It was perfect for us to share. The coleslaw was really good. The cod was really good. Service was excellent. We are really glad that we stopped in to eat."

"This is the first place we have been to that is rated less than 4.7 and we decided to go because everywhere else was closed on Sunday. With that said, the host at the entrance was great. He was very inviting and polite. Then after he showed us to our seats, we waited a while before our server finally came to take our order. This wouldn’t be a big deal, especially if they’re busy, but they weren’t packed.
So, my husband ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables. He added salt after a couple of bites, and that’s not like him. He said the steak needed to be seasoned, but the gravy was good. The potatoes were delicious and the veggies were good, too.
I ordered cod tacos so the mango sauce and my first bite had bones. I would have been okay with it, if I knew to expect it, but it surprised me.
The taste was okay, but nothing I’d go back for. Fortunately, the white Alaska Belgian beer was good.
When we were done, we waited for our server to come back and she never did, so I had to go ask another server for our check.
We wouldn’t go back to this restaurant if we have other choices, and we will definitely stick to restaurants with more than a 4.7 rating."

"Food was average. Over-priced for the quality, given there are better restaurants close by at similar prices. The Halibut Ceviche was a ripoff at $24 - tiny portion and below average flavor. Fish Tacos’ filling was good but corn tacos dry. Salad was good - Grilled Sable fish add-on was delicious and greens ok. Flight of beers was great- good selection to pick from and reasonably priced at $11."
