This airy two-story microbrewery serves eclectic and creative gastropub fare prepared with locally sourced ingredients—think Alaskan salmon poke steam buns with a crunchy wonton and spicy mayo, and exceptional pizzas topped with fried-garlic olive oil, braised oyster mushrooms, sausage, fontina, and burrata. The high-ceilinged restaurant's design blends rustic-chic, modern deco, and industrial elements and is anchored by an enormous copper fish welded by a local artist.

Open only during the summer months, Seward Brewing Company has a solid selection of flagship beers and tasty brewpub fare. Bonus: the whole building is an exercise in Seward history. Originally opened as a bar in 1904, it was turned into a theater during Prohibition, then an Elks Club and a dinner club, before finally becoming Seward Brewing Company in 2012.

Seward Brewing Company is one of my solid, go-to recommendations for people curious about where to eat in Seward; it does everything right, by the standards of craft brewery/restaurants in Alaska. The food is really good – and portions are super generous, which is nice if you’re facing some sticker shock about the prices for meals while visiting Alaska. Where Seward Brewing Company really shines is in its craft beer; it’s always really creative and different from what I’m expecting based on the beer types and descriptions.

Why it’s great: Seward Alehouse is just the right amount of quirky and rough-around-the-edges to fit its remote environs. (Draft beer is served in Mason jars—no fancy chalices here.) On my visit, a grizzled halibut-fishing captain chatted with me about the week’s weather forecast while Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” pumped through the sound system. This is a local hangout where camo-clad patrons bring their own cues to use at the free-to-play pool tables.

You’ll start with a kayaking trip to Tonsina Point, paddling by glacial vistas and spotting wildlife like sea otters, porpoises, sea birds, salmon, and bald eagles, before landing on the beach and meandering through moss-laden forests.

A part of Kenai Fjords National Park, the Harding Ice Field is a huge and beautiful piece of frozen Alaska. If you have the opportunity to add it to your Seward itinerary, do it. While you can hike to the edge of it yourself from the Exit Glacier visitor center, to actually traverse the ice field safely, you’ll need the appropriate gear and probably a guide.

If you are looking to sample some locally brewed beer while visiting Seward, you will need to visit the Seward Brewing Company. They make a number of great tasting beers and you are able to sample their products while they are open. They are a seasonal brewery and therefore there is a period time of the year that they are closed down.

Reserve your tent site at Moose Pass Campground, for true nature-living!. Disconnect from daily life for a few days, and retreat into the nature of Seward at this campsite. If you’re serious about camping naturally (no public showers) and figuring it all out – the natural way – then this park is for you!

This brewery is run by two Alaskan locals who have been calling Seward home since the early 2000s. The owners have both worked in the food and dining industry during their careers and one is even a chef. The brewery opened in 2014 and is now a favorite spot for all locals and visitors.

Couple Erik Slater and Hillary Bean have been in the Alaska restaurant scene for decades. They bought the Seward Brewing Company back in 2014 and have elevated the brewpub into a really great Seward, Alaska restaurant. Now just as many folks come for the food as they do for brews.

Seward Brewing Company is a great casual restaurant in town that serves local beer, burgers, tacos and more. They have a witty menu that shares tidbits like “We have no public wifi. Talk to each other.” I enjoyed the vegan tacos, the soft pretzels and a local seltzer.

Seward Brewing Company – They have everything from salads and burgers to really delicious pizza. It gets crowded with a wait but you can go upstairs to be served more quickly. We bought one of our favorite trucker hats and tshirts there.

Alaskan sablefish and Resurrection Bay red salmon are both solid dinner choices, best paired with a pint from Seward Brewing Company. Then stop by Sweet Darlings for fudge, gelato or saltwater taffy— all are made in-house.

Open in the summer months, Seward Brewing Company brews delicious beer. When they close for the winter, they spend the time brewing long-fermentation beer, which is a delightful beverage to enjoy in the summer months!

They pride themselves on using locally sourced ingredients and hand crafted beer. It’s a comfortable family-friendly restaurant and the food and beer are delicious.

There is something so cool about drinks that are MADE locally. And, they almost ALWAYS have soft pretzels- my favorite, haha. The service was great.

For dinner, head to Seward Brewing Company. The menu is exciting and a bit experimental (sea salt watermelon salad, anyone?) but delicious.
