I read about Elote Cafe on another blog, so I looked at their menu before I went hiking. I saw a photo of their lamb shank - and that's all I wanted after my hike!. After checking into the hotel and changing, I made it to Elote at 8:00 pm, and quickly realized it was spring break week for many visitors, so they were booked out for a month - even for takeout!.

If you can only pick one place though then I recommend Elote though. You have to get there at least 45 minutes before they open to get a table as they don’t have reservations, but it was easily the best food I had in Sedona and one that I highly recommend you wait for as it was for sure worth it. Order the Elote appetizer and you can thank me later.

This Mexican-Southwestern restaurant is conveniently located in Uptown. You’ll almost always see a crowd of people waiting at the door of Elote Cafe, but it’s because the place is worth it. Try out the Pork Cheeks, Chicken Enchiladas, Halibut, and one of their handcrafted cocktails.

If you can't find a reservation online give them a call, since they have additional space at the bar. The food was good and they were very knowledgeable about gluten. The reason for only giving a 4 star review is that the cocktails, and especially the Margheritas were pretty bad.
