What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners praise TOMO for its innovative Japanese-inspired cuisine and upscale yet hip atmosphere. While many rave about the creative dishes and attentive service, some reviews note issues with dish pacing, an overwhelming sweetness in some items, and misleading menu descriptions, leading to a mixed experience for a few. However, the commitment to quality ingredients and the unique dining concept make it a noteworthy spot for adventurous eaters.
"Beautiful, balanced, brilliant food - a chill vibe, a stupid wine list (seriously, folks, that a lot of options), and no nonsense. Yeah, it’s in a strange part of town, but it’s a lovely joint staffed by people who craft with their hearts. The outcome is delightful."
Matthew Chaboud
"This venue boasts a lovely decor and cleanliness, though the shallow seating was immediately uncomfortable. The service was shockingly slow, stretching a set menu to an unreasonable four hours.
While each dish was beautifully presented and flavorfully executed, a pervasive sweetness became overwhelming. The advertised "crab fried rice" was a misleadingly described, buttery crab risotto, not justifying its extra $24 cost.
Ultimately, the expensive prices, misleading dish description, and agonizingly slow service make this an experience I cannot recommend and will not repeat. The beauty of the venue simply cannot compensate for these significant shortcomings."
Andrew
"I love this style of restaurant, its so unique and with a seasonal/changing menu, its a great reason to go back. We got like 90% of the menu this trip. Its fantastic, words won't do it justice. If youre an adventurous eater I would recommend it. If you prefer convential and conservative meals, they have some options, especially their burgers. I think they're sliders like white castle, but better. We need more places like this."

The 19 Best Vegetarian Restaurants In Seattle - Seattle
Tomo truly excels in coaxing intense flavor out of fresh produce and dairy. We’re talking about plates like barley porridge with eggplant and dill pollen that tastes like a meatless Reuben soup, candy-like charred squash in a puddle of tangy cream with polka dots of dandelion and chilhuacle oils, and sunchokes roasted to the point of sticky caramelization with persimmon. Mushrooms become meaty, gigante beans become a bowl of cacio e pepe, and sea lettuce becomes royalty.
