I used to live two blocks from Brimmer & Heeltap and always dreamed of an excuse to rent out their adorable back patio full of lush plants exuding French countryside vibes. Luckily you don’t need a large group to soak up the ambiance, as they offer dinner reservations out in the garden as well as in their dimly-lit indoor space.

For years, Brimmer & Heeltap kept its spot as one of the best garden patios in the city. Owner Jen Doak and team remodeled the historic space with light woods, copper penny floor, and earthy textures, visually melding the charming interior with its picturesque garden space. Even with all the thought paid to the space, Brimmer’s menu of colorful dishes with local produce, various proteins, and whimsical desserts takes center stage.

This gorgeous Ballard gastropub’s back patio includes fun pops of turquoise and orange, a fire pit and plenty of lush greenery, making it feel like you’ve just stopped to mingle and graze in your hip neighbor’s backyard. Brimmer & Heeltap lives up to its name starting with its brick facade corner building. The menu here is highly eclectic and sure to have each of your guests leaning over the table and asking each other what they’re having!. From mushroom toast to clams and olive oil cake, Brimmer & Heeltap’s food, much like its space, is lively, inviting, and invigorating!

Jen Doak is the owner of this restaurant masterpiece, and she named it after British-inspired terms, highlighting the ambiance of wine culture – an ongoing theme, with a wine club available. Brimmer and Heeltap has been around since 2013. It’s a charming coffee shop by day and a bustling nightlife restaurant from Wednesdays through Sundays at 5 pm.

Coffee, food, and wine – all in one convenient Ballard corner building with a sweet history as the local grocery store. From 7am-2pm locals gather at Red Arrow Coffee for brews, breakfast or lunch in the flower-filled garden café. From noon-9pm, the action shifts to the new bottle shop, Halfseas, that links the garden to the restaurant.

The fact that they're dog friendly is just icing on the cake. It's a small neighborhood restaurant in Ballard with an adorable covered & heated outdoor patio - excellent for cold and rainy days. They take online reservations via Resy, which allows you to select an indoor or outdoor table ahead of time.

Brimmer & Heeltap has been a favorite of mine since I first stepped in their door nearly 8 years ago. Their inviting garden patio is a beautiful Ballard-neighborhood respite—serving breakfast and lunch daily, or dinner Thursdays through Sundays. My tip: Order their bread!
