What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Billiard Hoang is praised for its delicious and generously portioned Vietnamese cuisine, particularly the pho and banh mi, at affordable prices. Diners enjoy the unique atmosphere of a pool hall combined with a restaurant. While many rave about the food and friendly service, some find the broth too salty or note occasional service delays.
"My first review of this place from 6 months ago dissappeared so this is a report of 2 experiences from this year.
This place is the definition of a hole in a wall. It's comical when you see a picture of the exterior and all the pictures and reviews of their amazing food. You tell yourself you must brave the traffic and try the food here.
Their wings are amazing. Sticky sweetened fish sauce marinate, deep fried to crispy perfection. We tried the regular wings during our first visit, and fish sauce wings won hands down.
I ordered pho the first visit, and found the broth too salty while the meat was nothing special. Hubby ordered the lemongrass chicken, and it was spectacular! He will no longer eat lemongrass chicken anywhere else. In our most recent visit i ordered the grilled pork plate with eggs. That was my favorite by far. Tender meat, flavorful marinate, and the slightly charred caramelization made it a perfect dish.
Staff is very friendly, but sometimes it can be tough to flag them down if you need something.
The pool hall vibe is also kind of fun.
This is a hidden gem. Don't miss out."

"Billiard Huang is a fantastic spot that combines great food, warm service, and a fun atmosphere. The staff is genuinely welcoming and attentive, ensuring you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. The menu offers a variety of flavorful dishes, each prepared with care and freshness. What makes this place even better is the setup—two regular pool tables and one traditional table, perfect for enjoying a meal and a few friendly games. Whether you're here for the food, the pool, or both, it's a place worth coming back to."

"Billiard Hoang is a rare spot in Seattle where the quality and quantity of the meal was well worth the reasonable price. The space inside won't win any awards, but it was casual, relaxed and had pool tables if you want to play. The menu isn't the largest I've seen in the city for Pho, etc but it had more than enough to satisfy most people. The food we received was absolutely delicious - among the best Vietnamese fare I've had in the Seattle area. Absolutely will be back!"

The Best Pho In Seattle - Seattle
At Seattle’s best Vietnamese restaurant, you can hear the clacking of billiard balls as intensely aromatic phở comes out of the kitchen in giant bowls. They get the broth just right—it has depth, but doesn’t overwhelm all the other stuff inside, whether you order the basic version with juicy steak or get fancier with oxtail. Noodles have a high slurpability quotient and on a cold, rainy day, the bowls work great as mini heaters.
Where J. Kenji López-Alt Eats in Seattle
Billiard Hoang looks like a pool hall from the outside, but walk in, and you'll find that half the space is a restaurant worth visiting. I love the rich, gelatinous oxtail pho (I'm a sucker for all things oxtail), with extra-thin and bouncy rice noodles and lots of fresh herbs, as well as their grilled pork banh mi. It's a classic version with juicy strips of grilled pork (with plenty of crispy caramelized bits) and fresh vegetables stuffed into a crisp rice-flour baguette.
23 Best Soup in Seattle with Soul-Satisfying Comfort
website | address: 3220 S Hudson St ( get directions) |neighborhood: Columbia City | cuisine: Vietnamese. I never would have guessed some of the best soup in Seattle would come from a billiards hall, but here we are. Billiard Hoang is the most unexpected spot to get good Vietnamese food because half of the space has pool tables and another good portion of it has a huge bar.
The Best Vietnamese Restaurants in Seattle
(Or perhaps it's the other way around?) It starts serving the expansive menu of banh mi, vermicelli bowls, and rice plates early enough to make a late breakfast, and while it makes a solid pho, it also offers a chance to explore other noodle soups like tomato-brothed bún riêu.
15 Best Seattle Restaurants
When this Vietnamese pool hall sprung up off Martin Luther King Jr. Way in 1986, Seattle barely knew its bánh mì from its bún thịt nướng. But today, locals line up at Billiard Hoang for both those dishes, plus soups and rice and noodle bowls.
7 places to get authentic Vietnamese pho in Seattle
The menu at Billiard Hoang is going to overwhelm you — we’re sure of that. Stick to the pho, however, and you’ll be happy and set. We love the oxtail pho, it’s perfect with basil, jalapeño, lime, onion, and cilantro.
