"Google Maps Review for The Mission Restaurant, Scottsdale

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We recently had lunch at The Mission in Scottsdale and enjoyed a very nice dining experience. Located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, it’s a great spot with plenty of free parking available in the area, making it convenient to visit.

The decor blends rustic charm with modern elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that sets the perfect backdrop for a meal. One of the highlights was the table-side guacamole, expertly prepared right in front of us and bursting with flavor. We also enjoyed some fantastic cocktails that paired well with our dishes.

The food was delicious, featuring a Latin-themed menu that is elevated by the chef's French training, offering a unique twist on traditional flavors. The ambiance was great, making it a lovely place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Reservations are suggested, especially for dinner, as it can get busy. Overall, The Mission provides good service, a cozy setting, and a memorable dining experience. If you're in Scottsdale, it's definitely worth a visit!"

"The food was wonderful, with large portions! We split the Shaved Kale Salad, and they brought out what looked like two full-size servings of salad. Service was great. We never felt rushed. The main dining area is very loud. Outside dining was much quieter. The outside dining in the back of the restaurant was much cooler than the front (east facing?). Reservations required."

Warren Hermenau

"We came here with our family an 8 top and they accommodated us wonderfully! We had a reservation and had excellent service. Most of us had drinks and they were all delicious! I had the steak tacos and wow it hit the spot! The meat is incredibly tender and full of flavor. We all loved the guacamole as well which we got 2 orders of. The energy here is very modern. We will definitely come back again. Definitely a great experience, service, food, and atmosphere!"

Best Restaurants in Scottsdale for 2023

With two locations in Old Town and Kierland, The Mission is deftly serving modern Latin cuisine, drawing influences from Mexico, Spain, Central America, and South America. The Old Town location is aptly positioned next to The Old Adobe Mission, built by hand by Mexican immigrants who settled in Scottsdale in the late 1910s; appropriately, the Kierland counterpart has a sexier, more contemporary vibe with two stories of seating, a giant amber-colored cross anchored behind the luxe bar, backlit Himalayan salt stairs, and a spacious patio that overlooks Kierland Commons. Either way, you can expect signature tacos and favorites like empanadas, tostadas, aquachile, and plancha-kissed proteins.

The Best Mexican Restaurants In Arizona

Though it more broadly describes itself as Latin American, The Mission’s beautiful space and much raved about Mexican dishes make it a worthy contender nonetheless. Try tableside-made guacamole, the smoked pork pozole soup and its hand-pressed corn tortillas stuffed with fillings like battered mahi mahi, slow-braised pork shoulder and Tecate skirt steak. The Scottsdale restaurant opened in 2008 with chef Matt Carter and restaurateur Brian Raab at the helm and has been named Phoenix New Times’ Best Upscale Mexican.

Make a dinner reservation at The Mission, Old Town's highly acclaimed modern Latin favorite, combining flavors of Spain, Mexico, and South and Central America in an upscale setting with indoor and outdoor seating. The Mission is famous for its table-side guacamole presentation, and other options range from duck mole tacos to a take on paella, with rock shrimp, chorizo, clams, and Spanish bomba rice. The signature whiskey cocktail is the Briar Rose (Bulleit bourbon, hibiscus syrup, hibiscus bitters, and ginger beer) but the Mission is better known for its tequila and mezcal selection, as well as specialty Margaritas, from cucumber jalapeño to blood orange, and tequila tasting flights.

For Latin-inspired cuisine, head to The Mission (3815 N Brown Ave), an inviting eatery crafting toothsome dishes like chunky tableside guacamole, beer-battered mahi-mahi tacos with escabeche and cotija, and green chile duck confit, all equally delicious. Have a look at their extensive tequila and rum list as well as the lineup of margaritas, mojitos and other libations. The Primarita (El Mayor reposado tequila, organic agave nectar and pressed lime) is an excellent option if you’re counting calories, and the Mission Sour (Pisco, vida mezcal, pineapple, agave nectar, and egg white) is a refreshing take on the classic South American Pisco sour.

Great Places To Eat In Scottsdale & The Greater Phoenix Area

Type of food and atmosphere: I would describe the type of food as eclectic Mexican; there are certainly traditional flavors and dishes that you would expect to find, but there is also a lot of variety in terms of flavor profiles and ingredients. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back; it’s definitely a place where you can go in jeans or shorts and not feel out of place!. What to order: I would recommend the falafel tacos, Ahi tuna nachos, beer-battered avocado tacos, adobo chicken quesadilla and elotes (Mexican street corn).

The pumpkin bread pudding at The Mission takes you on a texture adventure. What starts with homemade pumpkin bread is baked into bread pudding and bathed in a scotch-spiked caramel sauce for an immensely moist, yet not at all mushy, pitch-perfect bite with hints of pumpkin spice.
