With more than 500 spirits, this bar has among the most impressive cocktail and spirits lists in Savannah and is staffed by some of the best mixologists in town.

Set among vaulted brick walls and with a decidedly speakeasy feel, Alley Cat Lounge lays claim to an extensive selection of all genre of alcohols—so large, in fact, that they issue a newspaper that reads like a tome as the menu, broken down by vodka, gin, bourbon, whiskey, etc., with house-made cocktails apportioned off within each section, making a handy reference for your mood. The imaginative mixologist behind the variations on intoxicating beverages is a genius, and you’ll not be lacking with options. Table service was spotty when we were there on a Saturday, so I’d say Alley Cat is best enjoyed on a weeknight.

A quasi-speakeasy nestled down a nondescript alley in the heart of the downtown historic district, Alley Cat Lounge lurks as one of the most inventive and clever cocktail bars not only in Savannah, but throughout the greater South. Sure, the signage out front makes this a little more transparent than most speakeasies, but it scratches that itch with its alley locale and the stairs that descend into an ambient basement lined with cavernous booths and custom-printed newspapers that double as immersive cocktail menus. The drink lineup here is truly staggering.

Alley Cat Lounge is quite literally located in an unassuming alley so if you’re stumbling along Savannah’s cobblestone streets in the wee hours its best to ask a local to point you in the right direction. Prop open the door and skip down the stairs and you’ll find a lively underground bar which gets packed with a friendly local crowd. The proprietors have crafted a memorable menu, which appears on each table as an old timey newspaper and meticulously outlines each spirit and their corresponding cocktails.

To get to Alley Cat Lounge you do, indeed, have to make your way down an alley, but once you get into the bar the space opens up into one of the most stylish places to grab drinks in all of Savannah. The final cocktail bar in Savannah we visited was Alley Cat Lounge- another speakeasy whose entrance to the basement bar is found in a back alley on W Broughton Lane. If any bar has what we’d consider a tried-and-true speakeasy vibe, it most certainly would be this one. But you’ll quickly move on from the ambiance after sitting down as the menu, printed in the format of an old newspaper, features a selection of their roughly one hundred cocktails available!

Alley Cat Lounge is a small, intimate basement bar built in the 1870s. This cocktail bar prides itself on serving the deepest library collection of fine spirits and cocktails in Savannah and has a “speakeasy” feel with exposed brick walls and moody lighting. You have to know where to look to find this aptly named cocktail bar, halfway down an alley off busy Broughton St. Down below street level, the air is cool and the cats are cooler in the dimly lit lounge where you can snag a booth if you show up early. Flip through a newspaper chock-full of high quality creative cocktails delivered to your table in classic coupes and tiki tumblers.

Alley Cat Lounge – For a hidden gem, Alley Cat Lounge is a speakeasy-style bar with an extensive drink menu. The bartenders are masters of their craft, so don’t be afraid to ask for a custom creation. We’re obsessed with the imaginative cocktails and diversity of people you’ll find here–everyone from singles to couples, both straight and gay, to groups of SCAD students.

The tony cocktail bar occupies the spacious basement below Dottie’s Market on West Broughton Street, but the entrance is in the lane. The bar publishes Alley Cat Rag, which doubles as a menu and a newsprint tabloid with fun stories about booze around the world. If you’re overwhelmed by the many spirits available, trust the judgment of the knowledgeable bartenders.

Alley Cat Lounge: Escape the craziness of River Street by ducking into this subterranean cocktail den, whose extensive menu ranges from classic punches (like Savannah's own Chatham Artillery Punch) to tiki drinks to Chartreuse cocktails to house originals, all printed on a menu that looks like a vintage newspaper.

They strive to bring the highest quality and freshest ingredients possible to their customers and I can attest to that!. Here they do not serve drinks… they serve people…they serve experiences =!

Nearly every bartender we spoke with mentioned Alley Cat when we asked them about how Savannah’s cocktail culture is evolving. It may not have been the first cocktail bar in Savannah, but it is certainly the standard by which all new cocktail bars measure themselves. They are true cocktail connoisseurs.

Before you say good-night to Savannah for the evening, you must stop into AlleyCat Lounge, which our traveling friends have described as “having the best cocktails, ever, of anywhere.” High endorsement right there (and something we unfortunately weren’t told until after we were gone…again, next time!).

As evening was upon us, I found my newest obsession though a quick Google search of what’s next. I don’t even remember what drew my focus in on this one, but The Alley Cat had to happen. And I know the next SSN is going to tell you how completely right this choice was.

Alley Cat: A tucked away speakeasy-style bar with, hands down, the best-designed menu we’ve ever seen. It’s like, a menu that’s also a newspaper, and it comes out quarterly. I’ve never sat and READ a menu at a bar before, but the Alley Cat is not your typical bar.

Alleycat Lounge: Alleycat is a sanctuary for those that enjoy true cocktail craftsmanship, but it’s unpretentious enough to welcome the weekend warrior. This lounge, located in a basement, serves up a bevy of international cocktails and a lot of Southern flavor.

If you need a break from the southern sun, head to this speakeasy-style basement bar. Grab a booth and peruse the unique menu filled with as many fun facts as it has delicious craft cocktails. Nothing like a little education to go with your drink!

One of the best 18 and up bars in savannah GA, is the Alle cat lounge and the main reason behind it is their food. Their entire menu will lure you to try everything out. We know people like to visit bars and lounges for their drinks and music.

Located in a building dating back to 1858 (and formerly a headquarters for General Sherman's Union soldiers), Vics on the River is the perfect place for a stately meal after an afternoon of shopping on the Riverfront.

Now, in my humble opinion, I think Alley Cat is the best cocktail bar in Savannah. I know some locals who prefer Artillery and The Grey Diner Bar. You can't go wrong with any choices above.
