"Came here curious after hearing about their Euro-style menu and figured I’d try something different from the usual Santa Monica brunch rotation. It’s definitely a cute spot with a relaxed vibe, and the menu has some interesting offerings — I got the salmon pancake and my friend tried one of the open-faced sandwiches.
The food was… fine. Not bad, not amazing. Portions were on the smaller side for what you’re paying, and the flavor didn’t really wow me the way I hoped it would. Like, I appreciate the concept — but it didn’t totally land. Same goes for the service: polite, but a little scattered and slow.
That said, I like that they offer vegan options and try to do something different, so I’m not mad at it. I just don’t think it’s a place I’d go out of my way for again. Solid if you’re nearby and want something off the beaten path, but not a must-hit."

It has been over a year since I last reviewed Shoop’s, and because they have clearly usurped my old favorite Nighthawk for best pancakes – this was the obvious choice for birthday pancakes in order to carb up for a hike (humble hike brag).
