Reviews Summary

Petitgrain Boulangerie is a celebrated bakery praised for its exceptional French pastries, particularly its flaky croissants and unique savory options. Diners rave about the high-quality ingredients and the artistry in baking. While the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff are a major draw, be prepared for longer wait times, especially on weekends, as popular items can sell out quickly.

"The pastries are excellent here. I got a croissant, concha, and an oatmeal raisin cookie, and the staff accidentally gave me a chocolate chip cookie instead of the oatmeal so we got to keep the chocolate one. The cookies are so soft and chewy and have the perfect crumble. Served warm too! Croissant and concha was light, and the concha might be the fluffiest one I've had. Almost like a brioche inside. Friendly staff and amazing food, have to visit more often!"

"Delicious almond croissant! Flaky and buttery. It seems like the almond cream baked into the layers, not a blob in the middle like most places. The top is crunchy with sugared almond slices. Well worth the $6.50 treat. This is most likely the best almond croissant I’ve had in LA. The coffee is good too. I only wish there was a second bench outside to sit & enjoy."

Taylor

"The only item I tried here was their croissant.
It was pretty good—very buttery—but overall really good.

I don’t think I would come back and wait in line just for a croissant, but I would say it’s a spot to check out.

I didn’t try it myself, but I heard there was some disappointment with the cinnamon roll."

26 Best Bakeries in Los Angeles for Cakes, Cookies, Pies

Best for: Croissants, other laminated pastries, breadsRun by Clémence de Lutz, one of the main pastry masterminds behind the Gourmandise School, and Friends & Family alum Tony Hernandez, this newer gourmet bakery in Santa Monica serves some of the absolute best pastries on the Westside as well as some of the best croissants in Los Angeles. Lines tend to form early, and while the croissants often run out early, there’s always something delicious in one way or another behind the glass (and yes, these pastries are often made with the same exact dough). Lutz and Hernandez pride themselves on using locally sourced flour varieties, milk from Straus Family Creamery, fruit from the Santa Monica Farmers Market, imported French butter and more ethically sourced chocolate, for higher quality you can taste.

The 11 Best Croissants In Los Angeles, Ranked - Los Angeles

Unsurprisingly, this Santa Monica bakery co-owned by a French woman who runs a baking school makes technically perfect croissants—more crackly than flaky, with a delicate honeycomb interior and spirals more beautiful than anything Tom Brady ever threw. The real reason these snail-shaped puffs stand out, however, is their one dominant, very appropriate tasting note: fancy French butter. More accurately, they taste like slipping into a warm golden bath filled with the stuff.
