Reviews Summary

Clafoutis is widely praised for its authentic French pastries, generous portions, and delightful atmosphere. Diners rave about the quality of the food, from French toast to crepes and unique savory dishes. However, some customers have experienced issues with inconsistent service and occasional shortages of menu items, particularly during peak times or holidays.

"Went during breakfast time, I had the Cafe liegios with eggs, ham and hashbrown. My husband had his expresso with quiche, which was absolutely delicious! Then we shared the peach Swedish pancakes, and they are a must-have along. Also, Orange juice was deliciously sweet. We will definitely be going back next time we are in Santa Fe."

"Came up in my research for my trip and I'm so glad we were able to make it. We stopped here for breakfast on our last day before we headed back home. The atmosphere was definitely bustling, even for a Wednesday morning. We passed the pastry case on the way to the table and I was very tempted to get something on the way out, but didn't. Prices were very reasonable for the quality, which makes it a place I think we would frequent if we lived here.

I ordered the coconut french toast along with a large orange juice and both were excellent! The OJ was fresh squeezed and so good, a perfect start to the morning. The french toast was phenomenal. Moist, lightly caramelized in spots, and topped with seasonal fruit and a generous sprinkle of coconut flakes. I devoured it and loved every bite. I love french toast but I'm usually hesitant to order it because it can turn out too dry or too thick, but this was exactly right.

Our server was quick and efficient, and we didn't wait long for our food despite how busy it was. The only drawback for me was the design of the two person tables. The legs were so close together that it was tricky to sit comfortably without bumping into them. Not a dealbreaker, but something I noticed that made it sort of uncomfortable if you're in a slightly bigger body or like to sit closer to the table. Otherwise, the space was very cute. You know it's French style because it's the only place we had been to in town that didn't have a ristra hanging somewhere lol I thought this place was excellent and would love to come back someday!"

Santa Fe's Best Weekend Brunches And Late Breakfasts

Clafoutis brings a rare taste of France to the predominantly Tex-Mex fare of Santa Fe, cutting through a sea of pinto beans and green chili with fine cheeses, meats and baked goods. The French proprietors are reputed with Santa Fe’s best coffee, which can be taken to go with any of Clafoutis’ renowned pastries in the event that all of the restaurant’s tables are taken, not an uncommon occurrence. For those who manage to secure a table, a variety of sandwiches, quiches, salads and crepes populate the sit-down menu.

High-elevation baking might not always (ahem) rise to the occasion...but at Clafoutis, the French family that owns and cooks at this bakery/restaurant has acclimated perfectly to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Santa Fe has, for years, enjoyed a few much-loved French-style cafés, in particular, Clafoutis in Midtown and The French Pastry Shop & Creperie at La Fonda on the Plaza. A slightly more recent addition, Chez Mamou, near the Plaza is closed currently for renovations and expansion, but should be back offering croissants and cappuccinos and other café favorites before long. Madame Matisse, the newish kid on the block, welcomes guests to a Midtown locale too.

Best of Santa Fe 2025: Food & Drink
