Reviews Summary

Stagnaro Bros. is celebrated for its stunning ocean views and classic seafood dishes, particularly its highly-rated clam chowder. While many praise the freshness and quality of the seafood, some diners find the overall food experience to be average or overpriced. Service can be inconsistent, and a few reviews mention issues with billing or portion sizes.

"The best part of this place is the view of the water. My 3 year old niece correctly identified the restaurant as shaped like a boat. We sat on the 2nd floor. There was an elevator for the stroller.

There were 4 of us in the group. 3 adults and 1 child. I had sandwich and soup. The child had bread and fries. Another adult had crab cakes. Everyone enjoyed the food.

Staff was friendly and patient.

Very relaxing atmosphere. Casual."

"We had a great time here but food was really nothing special. We trusted the Google reviews and I totally respect other people’s opinions but my experience was different. My seabass was overcooked and pretty dry, vegetables had a defrosted feel to them and even the chips were straight out of a freezer bag. Not what we were expecting in such a beautiful location. I should also mention that the tables by the window are really tiny which makes it very hard for two average sized people to eat comfortably on the same side. On the positives the house chardonnay was lovely."

Manuel Perazzoli

"This is a great find. A seafood restraunt at the end of the pier. There's no better ambiance and a view than this. The food was good. The flavor of the clam chowder, I would grade as a C. It was missing more goodies and flavor than other clam chowders have. It had too much flour in the rue, but it was hot. The halibut tacos were fresh, but lacked flavor. The beer on tap was fantastic and the servers were friendly. I love the ocean and the view of the sail boats and sea life, which make it so much more enjoyable."

The ultimate guide to seafood restaurants with a view in Santa Cruz County

This historic seafood restaurant at the end of the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf was founded by Italian immigrants in 1913 and, more than 100 years later, it’s still family-run, along with a seafood distribution business and fish market. Every seat at the restaurant looks over Monterey Bay, West Cliff Drive and surf spot Steamer Lane, but the best views are on the ship-like second story. The menu mixes casual classics like fish & chips, fried calamari and clam chowder with Italian American seafood pastas and scampi.

Great Chowder in Santa Cruz County

Seafood, located at the far end of the wharf, has a rich Santa Cruz history. The Stagnaro family, originally from Italy, put down roots in Santa Cruz in the early 20 th century and opened a small seafood market and lounge in 1937. Today, Stagnaro Bros. operates a restaurant—where you can enjoy chowder and many seafood delicacies—plus the largest fish market in Northern California which sells fresh fish to cook at home.
