Zeni Ethiopian Restaurant 1320 Saratoga Ave, San Jose, CA 95129 📍 We ordered the Ethiopian Spiced Tea and the meat combination which came with Ye-Beg Alitha Wot (Lamb), Juicy Doro Tibis (Chicken), and Kitfo (Beef). We also ordered the sautéed mushrooms and got a lot of Injera. Everything was so delicious and the service was amazing. The interior was also so beautiful and the atmosphere was perfect...

Reviews Summary

Zeni Ethiopian Restaurant offers an authentic and unique dining experience, praised for its flavorful vegetarian options and generous portions meant for sharing. While many highlight the rich cultural ambiance and friendly service, some dishes, like the beef, have been noted as tough. It's a highly recommended spot for those seeking new culinary adventures in San Jose.

"There are very few ethiopian restaurants in bay area and this place is the only one that stands out. They have a whole vegetarian friendly menu options. The food was flavorful, perfectly spiced. Went with family for very late lunch and there was no line, got the table and service was fast."

"My first experience eating Ethiopian food. Good service, the food was flavorful. I couldn't rate it 5 stars because I don't have anything to compare it to. Nice cozy spot. The appetizer was delicious and flaky. The food was hot and fresh we had some sort of ground beef and a chopped beef along with some chicken all were good. We also had greens which were just ok to me. . I'll come back. Many more options i want to try."

april

"Our first experience with Ethiopian food. We had no expectations but full of curiosity

We ordered Vegetarian Combo and stir fry beef. The Vegetarian Combo was excellent with various lentils with different spices. The beef was rather tough and hard to chew, but it had a good flavor. Next time we'll try chicken."

Few foods are as beautiful — and nutritious — as the Ethiopian restaurant’s vegetarian combo. At San Jose’s Zeni, named after owner Zeni Gebremariam, the dish is an eye-catching mixture of colors: berbere-flavored red lentils, yellow split peas simmered in turmeric, a root vegetable medley, stewed collard greens, and a fresh green salad served on injera. Try it with a sip of the restaurant’s honey wine served in intricately painted bottles.
